Abiola may have followed the Quran but clearly those he left behind did not hence the reason why the situation ended up the way it did. If Abiola had, rather trusting the quran which he clung to, and made explicit his desired in a will, his estate wouldn't have been torn to pieces, however. So, in any case, a personal belief in following the will as stated in your Quran does not replace the need for a will. undecided

What is in Quran is just a method of sharing the properties left by deceased and not a WILL of the deceased. Don't confuse readers. Gani Fawehinmi was a practising Muslim and Lawyer, he left a WILL. He must have done that from experience. You cannot leave what you have built for years to chance.

If a Muslim has two refineries one is Sugar Refinery and the other is Petroleum Refinery and petrochemical plant. Except the man has used system to indirectly share the properties by making them directors to have expertise on management of those refineries, after death, they may have to set Quran aside. The same is also applicable to female and male children. Female children that have served their father meritoriously while alive as Directors may be cheated after the demise of their father by the male children if Quran is followed.

Quranic law is Quranic Law and Islam has addressed everything from a to z.

There's a sharing formula and even if it is the richest man in the world that died, the sharing formula still stand.

There is a field called Islamic law and under it are people that specialise in property sharing - Nothing is ambiguous for them to split.

The executor of your Will does not need to be a lawyer. It could even be your sister or friend. Making that person executor of your Will simply means that the power of the court backs that person in carrying out your last wishes. undecided
My sane sister or friend will give me a resounding slap for bringing such foolish request to the table. Only stupid people will accept to do that and after reading the will, the bereaved children will feel mocked and the reader won't go Scot free.

Well, we are not all surrounded by the kind of stewpid people you obviously seem to be surrounded with there. My own family knows very well how important it is to carry out a person's Will — tantamount to a dying wish! I mean we are talking about a persons' will as to how he wants his own property shared/used/donated here, and you are instead speaking of what ? undecided

It's advisable to do a video will and transmit it to Irev in addition to the papers. Even lawyers can twist figures after demise election.

Just start with....

How are you my family? Hope the mourning is over? If you are viewing this video now....I must be in Hell/Heaven or just lurking around the house.

To my beautiful wife, Carmeleona and her daughter Cougar Courage...."I will my two hotels, Sharp Bend and Quikie Spot at Apapa and Igando respectively.

Jokes apart, that "video will" is very important. Make sure you read it as stated in the paper will. Transmit or save it to a secure server that must be examined by an IT expert for authenticity when your will is ready in court.

As a real Muslim, there's no need for Will. The sharing formula is already in Al-Qur'an . And the prophet explained much on that

I am particular about 2 shoes and 2 tops which is the topic of discussion. Your children will rather possess the shoes and the tops without having to fight over it, so you don't need a will for it. But if you put down a will for it, all of them, including those you asked to have it will rather use the tops as rags and the shoes to play 'labata' rubber band game on top your dilapidated grave. It's better to let sleeping dogs lie in cases where you have no significant property.

And I think your family are very stewpid to carry out stewpid wishes. Maybe if you will them your pennis, scrotal sacs and armpit hairs too as your dying wishes, they will as well cut it and keep them with them as you wish. That's how stewpid they can be.

1. Stop with the ridiculous-sounding excuses already! How many cases out there end up the way you described? In the majority, either the eldest child claims it all for himself leaving the others with nothing, or they end up fighting over who gets the better-looking shirt and shoe. Having a will in place allows you to decide which one of your kids gets which pair of shoes and, or top. undecided

2. Yours is the stewpid family for thinking it their place to decide, against your will, how your own property should be allotted. That shows a general lack of respect for your person and your life as a whole. undecided

No, I don't have any will, but I have a funeral policy for my funeral... grin grin grin

I did it back in 2019... My funeral is already well planned and I don't have to worry about who's gonna take care of my funeral arrangements when I die.
how did you do it ! Did you do it with an insurance firm ?
Re: Have You Written Your Will..? by Nobody: 10:11pm On May 12, 2023
Yes, I did.

I was also thinking of doing a life insurance policy, but then I remembered that I don't have kids yet and if I'm to die without having any children of my own, the money that's gonna be paid up by the insurance company might end up causing conflicts amongst my family members because unlike a funeral policy whereby it only covers for the funeral and the tombstone, life insurance policy pays up a lot of money, it could be millions depending on the amount of monthly premium that you can afford... And it's a good investment because it helps in taking care of one's loved ones after his or her death.

And I'll make sure that my life insurance policy is under an insurance trust just in case if I die before my kids reach 18, the money will be owned by the trust and be put away until they reach 18 and claim it themselves because I don't trust all these family members with my children's future, they might end up spending the money on themselves and not give my future children a cent if I place them as beneficiaries.

You are in your mid 20s and you already have funeral policy. I don't think you are planning your life else you won't have the thought of doing funeral policy. Jeezzzz

You mean people in their 20s don't die again or what? undecided

By making a plan at this age, and getting it out of the way, she is not only being smart but making sure that whatever happens as she is busy living her life, that aspect is taken care of. Can you say the same about your person? undecided
