Did dangote ever mention that FG gave him money to build his refinery?

Or you think he won't pay tax both state and federal tax.

So he will not pay off his loan that came with interest.

Is Dangote worth 40 billion dollars? Govt and politicians partnered with him.

If nigerians were paying N170 for a litre because government was subsiding, how much was government subsiding?

How much subsidy has the govt been removing since 2015 that made the price to rise to N170?

How much of that subsidy was removed today?

All the previous subsidy that they have been removing, how well have they been "redirected to other people oriented programs that can help stimulate radical economic transformation & growth"?

How does fuel subsidy "favours the rich" and how do they "manipulate the situation for their selfish gains"?

Who are these rich that subsidy favours? Do you know their names?

In Togo it’s 550 per litre. Market price cos it’s all imported. This should end up being the ceiling here too. Greed is what will make anyone charge higher than prevailing market price.

Dangote enjoys government waivers. When govt imposed a covid19 lockdown, dangote's companies and staff were allowed to operate without a shutdown.Govt have a stake in dangote refinery. So he will enjoy cheap crude oil at a very subsidize rate and tax waiver. So dangote should not punish nigeria because OPEC countries dont suffer for fuel like nigeria.

During fuel importation we were buying fuel at most N170 per liter. Now that fuel is refined here in Nigeria, are you expecting us to pay above N300 per liter for it?

And it has nothing to do with his loans...

The fuel you're importing is subsidized. Government will not subsidize Dangote's fuel.

Looks like Tinubu is yet to understand Nigerians. He should be aware of what his casual comment about subsidy removal has caused and also be aware how his subordinates will syphon the subsidy funds.

We would come to realise that Nigerians is the problem of Nigeria.

Tinubu has accrued more enemies who are ready to undermine his governance even more than Buhari had.
More than 6m obedients are ready to overturn every policy he makes just for the sake of expressing their dissatisfaction.

Nigeria cannot be tamed.

May we be saved from the hands of hopeless opportunists.

Let the six million Obidients do their worse. Their Messiah will never be President of United Nigeria. Let Nigeria break first so he can rule Biafra and the few brainwashed non igbo Obidients can relocate there with him.

Did Dangote told Nigerians that he will subsidize petrol for them with his refinery?
The man is into business and will sell his petrol according to how he get the crude oil in OPEC price.

So if you are expecting cheap petrol from Dangote refinery you must be kidding yourself

So if the three candidates supported subsidy removal then he shouldn't put plans in place to cushion any possible effect? Day one he came with such announcement... It's pathetic how some of you think....

"Tinubu can however make it cheaper without paying subsidy if they can sign a deal with dangote to give him crude oil in naira so he can sell fuel back to Nigerians in naira rate."

Your above statement means subsidy.
If it is not free market it is subsidy.
Bottom line, in genuine subsidy, filling stations will source and sell at whatever prices they deem fit. Overtime, market forces and competition will reduce and stabilize prices.

yeah, kind of.

But we won't be subsidizing in scarce dollars or subsidizing the rest of west Africa and naira will gain its strength a little.

airsaylongcome:

That’s still subsidy. Only this time it is going to one man. Instead of the many people that currently benefit from it. Expect those people to revolt. Why should the government “give” crude to Dangote at Naira when we sell all our crude in USD? Subsidy removal means manufacturers buy raw materials at market price and sell at their self determined price
read again, I said portion of fuel that will be used by nigerians.

Dangote refinery is built to serve Nigerians market first, then international market..

If Nigerians consumes 100 liters of petrol per day, they sell the crude worth that amount to him in naira and the exported ones will be in dollars.

That's what countries like Saudi etc that have refineries do to keep their petroleum price low and uniform against the international market price without subsidizing in dollars.

By the way, no one is stopping other people from building their own refrienery. Dangote wasn't the only one with licence to build refinery.
Re: How Much Is A Litre Of Fuel In Your Area. by dyera(m): 7:53am On May 30, 2023
abuhusna1:

Dangote refinery is not a subsidy so you have to pay high price

Guy it is not as simple as that. It cost more to import fuel. It cost less to refine and sell fuel locally.

Assuming refining 100 liters of fuel cost $100, oyibo man will refine the fuel for $100 sell it to Nigerian importers for $150, and filling stations will buy it from importers for $200.

Now, Dangote refines 100 liters of fuel for $100, he will be able to sell it to filling stations for $150 if he is not wicked.

Filling stations buying fuel directly from Dangote refinery would be a lot cheaper than buying fuel from importers.

With filling stations buying fuel from Dangote refinery, if subsidy is removed, the price of fuel is not going to be as expensive as it would have been when filling station was buying from importers.

Although the premise would be when filling stations start buying fuel from Dangote refinery. Right now filling stations are still buying fuel from importers.

Is dangote going to sell cheaper to Nigeria and sell more to abroad customers?

The workforce especially those from overseas, will they be paid in dollar or naira? If it is dollar then it will be uniform. you can not segregate payment

CBN says they will buy forex from dangote. Now will he sell in CBN rate or parallel or black market rate?

If he sells the parallel rate or black market then dollar will not reduce but increase.

If dangote sells cheaper to naija customer that means Nigeria is paying dangote subsidy.

It would be cheaper compare to if it still imported. The cost of importation incured by importers of fuel would not be there.

For instance if fuel without subsidy from USA cost 2 dollars per litre plus shipping, the cost might be 1.7 dollars from Dangote without landing cost from USA. So marketers in turn would be able to lower their price because there would be more competitions now that everyone with money can book and buy directly from Dangote.
lol let's watch and see then

Dangote is one of the major Beneficiaries that enjoys Tax waivers from FG both under APc & pDp.
We don't need Dangote to be father xmas, all we are saying if Imported fuel cost 700 to pump, local production should cost be lessser
Becos all cost associated with exporting and importing back our fuel plus other associated cost would have been successfully cut off.

So Dangote has no justification to sell at same price as Imported refined oil will sell.

Does anyone tell a private individual how he runs his business.

If you want to tell dangote how to run his business then create a competitive govt refinery.

Remember cement is not sold cheap because we have limestone in Nigeria.

Sugar is not sold cheap because we have sugarcane in Nigeria.

Garri is not sold cheap because we have cassava in Nigeria

What makes you think fuel would be sold cheap because we have crude oil. Or does crude oil refine itself.

All these bear parlour analysis nah wa oo! so if you borrow money to finance a project, you must recoup your money back within a very short time bah. What happens to the transportation cost for taking crude oil to Europe for refining? what happens to the forex that would have been used to import the same product back to Nigeria?
