Competition will force down the price, yet you pegged the price, total bullshit.

Truly, removal of subsidy is synonymous to liberalisation of the industry, but then, why fixing prices?

Besides, Petroleum marketers have association, that is the where a price is fixed. Any marketer who sells in defiance to the agreed price will be sanctioned.

So stop the dogshit of prices coming down on account of any imaginary competition.

@me
Nnpc didn't peg any price. Nnpc fixed their retail economic price. Any marketer is at liberty to fix their own economic price either lower or higher.

If you want to buy fuel now you have to shop around for the lowest price. No regulated price anymore.

NNPC only fixed priced at their own retail outlets, other marketers of the commodity can set their own prices. That's the competition he's talking about.

Petroleum is a necessity and it is a different product from laptop.
The sellers have the bargaining power and determine the price in the market.
This is dumb

Pseudo economics. What has ever come down in Nigeria. Even cement which market has been liberalized, has it come down. Build refineries and stop this speculation on Dangote refinery for price regulation.

Prices will come down

It happened with the GSM sector. SIM cards were expensive in 2001. So expensive that as a student, I laughed when someone like V -mobile came advertising with their then N20000 package. (Just the sim).

Now, thanks to competiton, the prices of a SIM are so low, I've gone through over 5 of them in the last 14 years. Lol.

The same thing will happen with fuel...but it won't be below 200 naira anymore. That ship has sailed.
Do you have head at all? How do u compare communication with oil?

NNPC did not fix the prices for the market. It set its own price internally which is actually lower than most places.

SoNature:
The price of PMS can never drop if we don't have functional refineries. In fact, NNPC has become the world's most useless oil corporation. An oil corporation that is more interested in building roads and hospitals instead of having functional refineries.

Of course, it can drop with out functional refineries. The issue has always been that there is not enough competition in this market because subsidy allows operators an easy way to make money. Remove subsidies and force everyone to compete for their profits and see if they won't adjust prices to market realities.

It's too early to start wailing.
If there's a pro active president, there should be moves to stop this robbery first before announcing the removal of subsidy

Various allusions and deductions have been said, but non have come up with solutions other tha removal of subsidy .
Whereas NOBODY have proffer why our refinery are not working and or to build more refineries.
Other oil producing nations make provision for their citizens

if these allegations are true, then the whole subsidy is dead on arrival.
Any company or group companies that form association to determine price in a capitalist economy will been seen as profiteers and anti competition companies. And those companies will be heavily fined.

I just hope this is not true sha.
