What I can tell you from personal experience and observation that the VAST MAJORITY of illegal immigrants in the USA eventually attain stable, middle class lives....even when they NEVER ever legalize their status. In this North Carolina a guy from Cameroun or is it Ghana even became the Town Manager of the Town of Zebulon, NC...that's the equivalent of Head of Civil Service for a city. There was also a full Professor of Mathematics that was an illegal immigrant here even after 25 or 30 years. Then there's the guy that founded and grew a company to employ over 30 people and he was an illegal immigrant. It's crazy.

For whatever reason, the USA doesn't really care about illegal immigration. The problem is getting into the country in the first place. Yes, it's best to obey the law and migrate legally.
