Thats the story of the Nigerian dream,if you are not connected,I mean strong hand and leg connection,just go do something else with your life,those juicy jobs are reserved for the rich privileged kids only.
My close friend just got employed by a pension fund company,it was her mum that pulled all the strings behind the scene,it took time though due to other candidates with their own connections,but her mum really pushed it very well with her contacts in that industry,I'm glad for her though. |

World has not crashed. Simply move on and believe in better days ahead. Don't too believe in your certificate. There are many under graduates, drop outs that are self made. Try to employ yourself if you can. That's the best if you ask me. Once there's life, there's always hope. Move on.

On Monday, I received a rejection mail from automobile company where I applied for a marketing role. On Tuesday, I received another one from a production factory.
Now I just returned from another job hunting only to open my mail and saw another rejection mail. This very one pain me most because I had high hope on it and i have spent so much on it too. During the second stage of the interview, I can remember how I waited from 8am till 5pm just to see 'Oga', and after seeing him, I began to walk my way home and got home late. I know i'm sounding sentimental here but it's so annoying that i went through all that 'ontop empty belle' and at the end, I wasnt offered the job.
Very very painful and morale killing.
I feel so bad right now.

Morning, it is a pain you have to go through to appreciate the good times ahead.
I myself received so many rejections, to the Lord be the glory, the one interview I went for, I was told even before the interview ended that I was by far the best candidate so far and got the job.
Take time to cope with the pain of the rejection but you must timebox it. Once that period of "mourning" is over, be positive and get back on the horse. 1 Like |

It marvels me that in this century lot of graduates still make use of olden days CV format.
Listen. If you are not serious with job hunting, it will show on your CV. Have you Ever tried giving your CV a nice modern look. Trust me. Out of 20 companies you submit it, atleast 12 will call you for interview. Getting the job is now what you give in. In my years of joblessness (7years) I have never gotten any interview invite from big companies until I utilised the modern CV format. Bad strategy. Choose your best 2 positions per week and do a good job of matching your skill set to the requirements of the job. If you send in too many you are unlikely to do a good job with the application. It’s quality over quantity and May God reward you soon. When you attend interviews always reflect and research your understanding of the questions and if there is an opportunity for feedback then get it so that you get better with the interviews. radiolover:

How did you comfort yourself? When it seems darkest, hold on a little longer for the first light of dawn. A bend in the road is not the end of the road, don't make the bend ur end. Remain positive and hopeful. Positive...very important. Just keep on doing what u re doing with positivity and hope. Resist the urge to allow depression and complaints dampen ur positivity. |

How did you comfort yourself? "We regret" letters often come before "we are happy to inform you" letters. Only a few people side step the regret letter. Getting 3 in a week means you are doing something right. Hang in there. Keep applying. Thanks. Which skill would you recommend? Have any in mind? It depends on a lot of factors like: 1. what u have flair for 2. What is in demand 3. amount of time/resources you can dedicate into acquiring new skills Try your hands on: 1. Coding (Web/App Design) - html/css/javascript 2. Motion Graphics & Animation - 3. Social Media Marketting 4. Copy writing 5. Video Editing All of which, there are video tutorials online that can teach u 80% of it . It takes time though but its achievable. We have gone past the era of "Go to school, get good grades then get a good job", into the era of "what can u do with your hands and your coconut head". Even me, that i'm employed, i still do side jobs to augment what i earn so, try your hands on any of these fields listed above. To know what recruiters/employers/clients need or skill they want, check job sites like indeed and check for keywords like "animator", "motion design" "video editor" "web developer" "javascript developer" etc |
