Fowl nyash don dey open small small 😁😁😁. We've been lied to for so many years by those stealing our commonwealth that daily petrol consumption in is 100 million liters. It has been revised downward to 66.8 millions since the subsidy took effect. Who has been drinking almost 35 million liters daily all these years? I sorry for this country. Otedola & Co don dey smile to bank all these yrs.

Another propaganda agent.
How can you speak of subsidy when you don't even know your ACTUAL AND FACTUAL daily consumption?

He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches. Miles Kyari isn't screaming the house down for the subsidy to go as it was insane.

Did you know that it was cheaper to buy petrol than you buy crude oil? That was how damned cheap it worse.

One does not need to know the exact volume to know how much the government saved or made now that its gone. Government can calculate what came into it after the subsidy was removed.

You are pro-subsidy, hence emotions dominate and not rationality.

Even if it did not cost a dime to provide the subsidy, it should still go.

The biggest damage it did was that it prevents private investment into refining. No bank will lend you $2b to build a 100,000bpd refinery where government fixes the price.None!

The only reason why Dangote and Bua were able to construct refineries was that they could leverage their immensely profitable and enormous cement business as collateral to secure loans.

Had the subsidies been removed since the 1990s,by now the country would be refining at least 2mbpd of crude oil. It would also have massive fertilizer and petrochemical industries. Power generation would probably hover around 50,000 Mw. Nigeria would be the defacto energy hub of Africa.

BAT has done what others that came before him couldn't do, and it is just a matter of time before we see the benefits of the fuel subsidy removal.
At least the funds saved can be used for other purposes in driving Nigeria's socioeconomic development.

Participatory Democracy is the worst form of government.

If idiots outnumber intelligent people, the country will remain stagnant forever.

That's exactly what's happening in Nigeria.

Don't say others couldn't do

Jonathan came in 2011 and by 2012 he already saw the need to remove subsidy.

Tinubu himself mobilised people and kicked against govt policy then.

Now you are singing praises for him

As it should be. Alot of people like to use foreign countries like UK, USA, Canada, Australia e.t.c as how countries should be run. Well, public transport is cheaper in those countries.

We are a wasteful nation. Nigerians will get creative with car sharing, car pooling, using public transport and cancelling non-essential travel and those weekly owambes.

so the amount of fuel being smuggled to neighbouring countries is a joke to you. Or the fact that people now drive only when necessary.

Osinbajo: We’ve saved N1.4trn by not paying fuel subsidy

AUGUST 25, 2016

Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo says the federal government has saved N1.4 trillion for not paying oil subsidy.

Speaking in Kano on Thursday during the third day of the 15th Joint Planning Board and National Council on development meeting, Osinbajo urged Nigerians not to lose faith in Buhari’s administration, saying the president would fix the economy.

“*With the deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector*, there has been a significant increase in the availability of petrol throughout the country for the savings of N1.4 trillion on subsidy payments alone,” Osinbajo said.

Subsidy removal: Tinubu backs Buhari, Falana condemns price hike

13th May 2016

A former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has described the decision of the President Buhari-led Federal Government to remove petrol subsidy as courageous.

The government, through the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, on Wednesday, *announced the removal of the subsidy on petrol,* pegging the upper limit at N145 per litre from N86.50k.

In a statement in Lagos on Thursday, Tinubu said though the decision was a difficult one, it would ultimately become beneficial to the generality of the people instead of enriching the pockets of a few Nigerians, who enjoyed the fraud of the subsidy regime.
