Also, people will double their price of goods and it will affect people that are not working for govt, the common man

Minimum Wage: Workers Should Expect Double Of Current Salary – Tinubu’s Spokesperson

The special adviser on media and publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, has said that workers should expect nothing less than double of their current salary when the new minimum wage is implemented.

Ngelale stated this while discussing what the Tinubu administration is doing to cushion the effect of subsidy removal during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He said, “I don’t want to preempt the president or the work of the minimum wage committee that is getting it down in those states, but what I would say is this: the president will want nothing less than a doubling. I mean doubling of the current minimum wage.

“As of June 36 states have received N300 billion more than they had received in any previous month in the last two years. They already have more money right now.

“The federal government on its part is making sure it brings down the cost food and energy by supporting transport companies and coming up with agriculture intervention as well as SMEs capitalization. States have all agreed during the last NEC meeting that they would support new minimum wage.”

Why didn't he Tinubu pit all these in place before removing the subsidy?

How I wish people understand this message, when minimum wage is doubled it doesn't translate to double your salary as a Civil Servant, the consequential adjustment wouldn't still translate to double ones salary

60k for a level 12 worker is 720k per month.
The entry level for a government worker as of today is level 8. With a 60k minimum wage, that's 480k per month before taxes unlike the 240k they earn before. After all taxes, they will still earn at least 420k per month now with the new minimum wage.
No body said you should work in a private sector where there's no regular promotion. That's where minimum wage has no meaning 🙄

Remember it took only a directive of one day to remove subsidy, and since then civil servants have been turned into beggars.
But to increase minimum wage , it's taking ages. Is it after civil servants have all died dt it will be increased?

While this may sound good, the downside would be inevitable doubling of inflation.

More money in circulation, without productivity (enterprise) results in uncontrollable increase in price of goods and services. Simple economics : chasing few goods/services with huge amounts in circulation.

The only solution to the economic situation in Nigeria is to encourage productivity, give free plants and seedlings and fertilizers to farmers, provide electricity for manufacturers, eliminate multiple taxation, good roads, give loans and grants entrepreneurs who are ready to start or expand small and medium scales productions..

These are the simple steps or as you may call it low hanging fruits.

Simply giving out 5k or doubling salaries may help in the short term, but on the long run: inflation

This is the salary for cleaners, domestic servants, etc. Meaning that other people at higher levels will also have double effect in their salary, for example, someone earning 800,000 may possibly be getting 1.6 million. Hope your skull can assimilate that analysis.

Even if the president decides to pay one billion naira as minimum wage, the failure in you will still jump out to complain 😭

Fix the refinery, tighten security, reestablishe trade flow with neighbouring countries, improve electricity supply and create enabling environments. Let the Naira have a rest for a time.
Viable Economy is not about fat pocket or plenty commas.

60k is not money, just because they pay you 15k for your gate man job doesn't make 60k money, how do you even survive with 15k a month? You must be doing other illegal things to survive
