What is really happening in your current workplace now concerning the layoff of the workers due to the high cost of running their businesses?

My company just sacked close to 20 of their staffs and trying to train the remaining workers on how to multitask in various positions.

I just pity those that are sacked especially married men.

How do they cope?

Is there any hope for them to get another job?

With what is going on in this company, is there any company ready to take more staff?

Intels Nig Ltd is a company with its operational base in Rivers state, south-south Nigeria. The company provides logistics and technical support solutions to her clients who are active players in the upstream oil and gas sector of the industry in Nigeria.

In the wake of the corona virus pandemic and its attendant effect on not just governments of the world but also on businesses and almost every family unit, most employers of labour, Intels Nigeria Limited inclusive, are proving to be rather insensitive to the plight of their employees at this crucial moment with plans and policies that are anti-workers.

Some workers the world over have already lost their jobs and means of livelihood to the effect of the corona virus on businesses while other workers who are considered a little lucky have had to agree to downward salary reviews. All in a bid for businesses to navigate this times.

We have credible information that suggests that the management of Intels Nigeria Limited have already concluded plans to embark on compulsory retrenchment/redundancy of her work force both from the Junior and Senior Cadre. The reported number of workers expected to be affected by this planned action of the management of the company is about 900 workers from about 1300 workers on her payroll.

This planned action of the management of Intels Nigeria Limited if not aborted will further plunge affected members of staff into untold hardship and retrogression. Many families will find it extremely difficult, if not completely impossible to survive. This action would also affect the revenue generated to the government of Rivers state.

This unsavory development is coming at a time when we equally have it on credible information that the Management of Intels Nigeria Limited have already paid for and acquired two (2) sea ports - *Interporto Di Venezia Spa* and *Terminal Intermodale Adriatico* in Italy. The investment in these acquisition is estimated at approximately €19 million. This action appears to us as a deliberate action by the company to kill the Nigerian operation and birth the one in Italy.

We wish to call on the government of Rivers state, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity as well as the Nigerian Labour Congress to indulge on the management of Intels Nigeria Limited to desist from the adoption and implementation of any policy, plan or action which is capable of affecting workers negatively. We agree that these are difficult times but we donot share in the sentiment that embarking on mass retrenchment is the way forward.

Lolssssss, Nigeria is a very sorry state right now. Things hv really fallen apart and d center is no longer holding.
More will still be sacked that's for sure. We used to hv 3 security personnel, gradually reduced to 2, from 2 to 1, then from 1 to nil
After for d month of june and July we had non. It was August beginning that we decided to get one.
D main staff, we used to hv backup staff, but right now we decided to asked dem to stay behind first.
If not that we are into health sector, many would hv being asked to stay behind.
When d cost of running an organization is outta of dis world.
Just from January down to May, we do spend close to 50k on fuel weekly. Bur right now we are spending close to 220k week on fuel and diesel. If we could spend upto that on weekly, tell me how much in a month and why staff won't be asked to stay behind and also why prices won't go up. Everyday purchase we make, things always add with some percentage.
If Tinubu and Co can beg whoever they can beg to come and help them Revive dis economy fine. Even if it warrant him to meet d opposition for economic ideal better bcs d way things are going, I'm sorry for d poor bcs they poor are left at d mercies of quack nurses, d few doctors we hv are just tired, d workload is killing them while most hv traveled outside d country.

Your boss will not let the axe fall on you if the office is attached to you (you play key roles, bring valuable input, have work aura and complete tasks on time) but you will be cut off if you are the one attached to the office (like a leech with zero value) just the way these online PAY PER POST miscreants and the rest of them will be cut off when they finally become useless.

The worst of them all are those who pay very little that partially cater for the person talkless of the family, and takes most of your time, energy and efforts to even learn new skill while doing their jobs even during weekends.
If that person is sacked, na wahala be that oo.

Can you see the state of the economy ..when y'all were encouraging Tinubu to remove fuel Subsidy without any plan and float the Naira without any plan , didn't you know it will have consequences? Some people that have been sacked will never again recover if care is not taken ...Tinubu lied to you that only Big men drive big Lexus SUVs enjoy fuel Subsidy and y'all beleived him .....if Tinubu was serious about saving money for government the first thing he should have done is to cut this stupendous cost of Governance but he didnt do that but instead went after cheap Petro that powers the masses

With where the Naira is headed, along with flying fuel price, there will be more layoffs before the year ends...!

I'm still asking for the umpteenth time...

Is the nation's security fully ready for what is coming??!
