Why will a man even want to plait (braid) his hair?

Let's leave Christianity out of it first, can anybody please tell my why men suddenly started braiding their hair?

This is a thing previously exclusive to women and certain men for strictly ritual purposes and positions in African culture.

In Ancient Yorubaland, not every man was free to braid his hair. Only priests and devotees of Sango did (and still do) it. It was taboo for just any dude to do it even then, before we had Christianity.

Okay, why not ask if it's all right for a "genuine Christian man" to wear a dress, or lipstick?
