LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSION FOR INSTALLATION OF TRUCK BARRIER AT DORMAN-LONG BRIDGE

In line with efforts to forestall incessant articulated vehicle accidents which have claimed lives on some bridges in the State, the Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion on the night of Saturday, 7th October 2023 for the installation of the Dorman-Long Bridge truck barrier, from 10.00 pm to 7.00 am.

Consequently, the following alternative routes will be available to Motorists during the diversion:

i. Motorists from Western Avenue inbound Ikorodu Road will be diverted to Empire Road/Jibowu to continue their journeys

ii. Motorists from Western Avenue can alternately use Agege Motor Road to link Mushin and proceed to their desired destinations.

Motorists are implored to be patient as the closure of the bridge is planned for the nighttime as part of the traffic management strategy to avert further accidents and loss of lives.

The State Government has, however, noticed the continuous damage on the truck barriers and has therefore warned again that henceforth, any driver who runs into them will face the full wrath of the Law.

A lot of Nigerian leaders are outrightly wicked or inherently brainless.

Who in his right senses constructs and commissions a bridge like that without the existence of barriers for god's sake?! It's like constructing a road without attendant shoulders and drainages, then expecting it to last and serve the purpose of efficiency. Now after series of accidents, they're inconveniencing the masses further, to do something that should have been done long before certifying the bridge fit for public use. And I'm very sure they'll quote a humongous budget for this idiocy.

Better late than never!

Let the trucks stop using the overhead bridge and go through the road. If NURTW disturbs them, let them park and cause traffic, police will be forced to intervene and everything will end once and for all.

It's very improper for trucks and trailers to keep using overhead bridge, especially when most of these trucks have weak engines.

Hope those yellow head developers CRIMINALS and their scavenger won't go damage/steal it

It is not the truck that they want to remove. It has been removed since. What they want to do is to put overhead barriers on the road so that trailers won't be able to ply the road
