Oga, I drove pass akowonjo and shasha road yesterday morning around 10 am, noticed so many shops were locked up. Busy area before. I learnt most do not bother opening due to poor sales, transport cost etc, so it is not worth it. Some shops open later in the day, as the owners come to sit in the shop since they cannot pay staff to come usual morning opening time.
On the same akowonjo road, visit most eateries, they are mostly empty, few turn on their Ac due to high diesel cost ie ₦1050 per liter! How much will you sell to operate at such cost of running Gen? Only one joint at Egbeda junction seem to be doing well as the sell open air.
Businesses are really struggling these days.

All these problems are products of Buhari Era. And the present government isn't helping issues. Or maybe they are trying and it's not yet evident.
Nonetheless, one has to start a business a take good care of it just like a baby.
Growth takes time but it's hard when the economy isn't tax friendly and transportation is very high.
Everything isn't as it ought to be

What a country, now Tinubu is the president, it goes beyond our turn. He got the Power, under him, things are failing apart, from gas, PMS, dollars to Naira etc. If he fails to reverse the decision on subsidies, I foresee government may collapse God forbid though

Only a fool will expect Marketers that are milking the nation dry using subsidy regime to support the subsidy removal. Those that sell our fuel outside the country are sad but many fools will not see that

A lot of marketers should have seen this coming.

The wise marketers leased out their filling stations to the NNPCL

A lot of them didn't believe subsidy will be remove.

they have been making a lot of profits in the past, I wander how they are folding up this fast.
U buy goods at 3million naira, sold it at 3.8million naira, go back to buy the goods, u realised it is now sold for 4.2million naira, u have shortage of 400k.
Shebi u go collect loan to add up.

If this keep happening every time u go to buy, men u will run out of biz cos I r selling just to repay loan and pay salaries.

when people lack what to say they resort to insults. U mentioned fools twice in your write up, at the end u made no sense. I don't know if you're here in Nigeria, the realities will get to us all weather Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, idoma, Ebira etc. You guys did worst during bubu and we all experienced the realities. It will reach everyone. Dey play

Subsidy ended after the PIB was signed by Buhari in 2021. Last year, Buhari only made provision to pay for subsidy till June 2023.

Every marketers know the government will eventually remove subsidy, that's why some of them have been leasing out their filling stations to the likes of NNPCL.

Is either they find their ways out of this or they will all eventually close down.

NNPCL and other major filling stations will never run out of petrol. A lot of filling stations have close down in my location, but the few ones left are more than enough self.

But nnpcl can never lease every filling stations in any state..
Even.if they do, some of the outlets will not have products.

What nnpc should do is be the sole importer.of fuel till Dangote or any other refinery comes onboard like it happened during buhari period.

Yes, they can't lease every filling stations that's why some of the marketers are now crying they are running out of business.

NNPC is the sole importer of petrol products in Nigeria, in fact, the NNPCL have over 1.3 billion litres of petrol in storage.

The marketers should have themselves to blame for not planning ahead.

Nothing is going to happen.

So far you have your money, you will buy fuel from filling stations. NNPCL have over 1.2 billion litres of petrol in storage.

Yes, blame marketers for the naira depreciation. Blame marketers for the high cost of living. Blame marketers for the rate at which commerce is grinding to a halt. A bad hunter with good gun will still blame the forest for his bad aim.

Is that even a question? What wrong policies did he make to make the naira fall faster than a rock? The worst part is you are not hiding the fact you asked a very clueless question.

you cant say the policy he made you just said maira declined so you haven't answered me

he only brought cbn dollar from 400+ to 600+ now it 700+
but bdc was 700+ before and its over 1000.

now cbn difference is just 100 difference and bdc is 300 difference. now cant you see something is wrong, how can a particular thing be going times 1 and the other one is going times 3, who can explain that??

the economy is now what is affecting our exchange rate but some power at hand

explain how in 4 month your currency will depreciate by half, it not possible

do you know bua reduce price by 500 those are power at hand

Announced fuel subsidy removal at his inauguration like a mumu.

Waited 100 days to form an economic team while giving sensitive appointments to his friends.

Announced floating of the naira at the same time meaning every imported item would be three times as expensive. Refined fuel is the most imported product to Nigeria.

Appointed a fool to lead the power sector

if the 3 front presidential runner say they will remove subsidy so no time that it is removed that is not good

naira floating is not the reason for bad economy, the only people that affected is people importing things and as a business all you do is just increase price, those imported things is not meant for poor people its for the rich
or you mention imported things you own

all you are saying is appointment, still you havent say policies he made
