As a security Analyst this raises a lot of red flag,
1. $2000 is not enough for such project going by USA minimum wage structure.
2. Why would your employer be asking you for third party details for remuneration?
3. You’re in a desperate situation and this makes you the perfect target.
4. The job description is lacking in details, go on LinkedIn and see how it should look like.
Verdict: This is a paycheck scam!!!

Let him narrow it down to where he will be favoured or be safe atleast 70% than for them to take all...by asking them to pay him directly as he opens a foreign account...

Meanwhile, he should never send any finished work to them ....

He should break down that $2000 and tell them to pay him in stages...

Am an Architect, am still battling with one USA client like that, designed a Hotel for him, 1 year plus now, he only directed me to his PAs and blocked me on Whatsapp and Facebook...

all this na long episode....waste of time. They simply need an address to wire a check to the receiver..and overpay or ask for a refund. Which they will now provide either a cashapp tag or paypal or btc wallet for u to pay into ....simple.

This is 101% SCAM.

This is a paycheck scam and the catch is the 50% upfront payment to a US Mailing Address.

How this scam works is to send a crafty check to the reciever to cash in any US Bank but the amount will be over inflated with like $10,000 - $60,000 depending, and they will tell the receiver it's a mistake that you should collect your own $2000 and remit the balance to their own account...That's if the check clears which has a 95% of actually clearing becaue the receiving bank won't like to leave her customers check waiting for too long because of background check.

Anyway, on the long run, the receiver of the cash would be arrested by the cops after few days and would be liable to pay back or go to prison... Probably, face both of the two penalties.

Op, you need to buy me a recharge card, nkwobi and two bottles of beer for saving your brother's asss.

This looks real. They are not asking him to pay anything. A scammer either wants you to pay or they want your ID details for fraud. None of these is here in the message. Collecting a cheque is harmless. They probably want this job done on the cheap. That amount is cheap for the job. Let him go with the flow. But he must promise himself never to pay any dime or release his bank details at anytime.

It’s FAKE! They are about to send your a fake check of 4000 and ask you to keep 2k and send the other 2k elsewhere.

You can request collection in person, unless the places are too far. In that case they need address to post the cheque.

Pls don’t fall for this scam.Had a bizarre experience in 2006 from a purported UK company which came out to be false. Your brother should not fall for this miracle job offer.

It’s a check scam. I’m positive the check will be sent for more than the specified amount and the person who is gullible enough to deposit it will get instructions from the sender to keep $2,000 and to wire the excess amount back to the sender. A few days later, the fraudulent check will bounce and the depositor will be in hot water.
