Why is the government not interested in developing the Eastern ports? Once the Eastern ports are functional, the river Niger can be dredged all the way to the north to enable establishment of northern ports too. Tribalism under Buhari and Tinubu is killing this country while their supporters cheers them on.

Smh. What does this have to do with Igbo? This is a project that took like 20 years from envisioning by President Bola Tinubu when he was the Lagos state Governor, to take off to be realized today.

The port will last for more than 100 years so 6 months of starting is still trial phase and they're actively building up shipments with more of transhipment for now to ensure that the 6 lane roads and other constructions are perfected

6months "trial phase" after all the hype? cheesy cheesy grin grin pls look for another excuse

They have buried Lagos and are about loosing their status as the economic capital of Nigeria all in their fruitless greed to bury the destiny of others. There is no company in Lagos that is not under the strangle hold of debt from eateries to hotels, to clubs , telcos , manufacturing companies, farms, food companies even SME. The largest economic bubble is about to burst in Lagos.

The full year financial results for companies for 2023 will make every lagosian a wailing wailer
you are a complete retard I guess, what facts do you have to support your spurious and thoughtless claims, I personally know a lot of corporate organizations that are declaring billions in profits, infact some bank's are declaring billions as half year profits

When you put clothes on a man who already has clothes on and is suffering from heat you are not helping that man. Lagos has all the functional ports in Nigeria and they still went ahead to build another one there Ignoring Delta state, bayelsa , Rivers Akwa ibom and calabar yoruba and hausa foolishness combined

Lack of dollars affects imports, it doesn't affect exports.

Nigeria should focus on exporting more goods. That's the way for the country to earn more dollars to pay for essential imports.

The fact that importation is slowing down is good for the economy in the long term, but only if Nigerians will focus on producing more of what we eat and use locally.

How is it bad if imports of indian/peru/Brazilian hair, lotions, creams, cornflakes, furniture, multi vitamins, shoes, and thousands of other non-essential goods that we can produce locally reduce drastically?

Are China and India developing their economies by importing everything under the sun from other countries and not producing their own locally?

So Lekki ports is not busy because of lack of imports. Are we supposed to be celebrating importation that enriches other countries Why aren't we asking why we have nothing to export through the ports?

Keep importing everything na. We shall see what will happen to the Naira. Sebi, the government will put a printer in Aso Rock and start printing dollars abi?

People are just not serious in this country.
Thank you bro. Good to know that it affects importation. That is one of the merit of currency devaluation to boost export and discourage import.

Forget about Nairaland and the tribal sentiments and banter that go on here. Lots and lots of Yoruba's supported Peter Obi which is why he was able to win Lagos State. It is only natural that Tinubu being a Yoruba man that most of supporters would be Yoruba but you should not because of that fact castigate a whole ethnic group despite the fact they supported Peter Obi whom they saw as a credible election in millions.
The Rufai Useni and Dele Farotimi to mention that some of you celebrate are Yoruba's.
Then you have the young crusaders like Mr Macaroni,Falz etc. Speak against the poster and not against a tribe it will help Nigeria if we can all develop this mentality

They will never stop to smell what they have been shovelling all these while. What they are looking to do is to build another seaport at ikorodu and kill the one in pH, that's what druggie uses in enslaving them. That's why the elections were tribalized so that people will support bat to protect Lagos.

You forgot the sanctions against landlocked Niger Republic which imports through Lagos. Tinubu's ego of maintaining the ECOWAS sanctions is causing the port to lose revenue and foreign exchange

Hahaha, you can say that again, the first to be hit are the investors who invested hard earned resources to build the ports and its dependent businesses, second to be affected are shipping companies, banks , insurance companies who have deployed machineries in place for a smooth business operation third is the state and federal institutions who are direct beneficiaries of such investment , then the citizenship

You people are just daft. I swear

Business world indeed.

They are the only one running businesses in Nigeria? That is how you keep deceiving yourselves that you've bought over all Lagos land, yet database proves otherwise. Always chest beating!

Lekki deep sea port road is not yet completed, my company is located around that axis. Hitech is the company constructing that road, from Dangote fertilizer junction to Eleko junction.

Couple of weeks ago a news hit the from page that federal government approved a coaster road from Lagos to calabar right That is the road that news was referring to. The new approved road will just connect with what HITECH have been constructing since.

While craneburg started their own construction from Epe T junction to Abraham adesanya(NOT PART OF THE COASTER ROAD)

You guys don't even think I swear.

Last year come and see propaganda from these same APC guys saying that the port has started recording huge shipping numbers when we knew it was all a lie. The same lie they started peddling with blue rail that within weeks it recorded 80k passengers, I asked myself do these people know what 80k passengers are at an instant? If it was moving 80k as they said Lagos roads would have been empty.
