This is not a matter of Nigeria's premier league it is a case of corrupt and unorganized Enyimba. Eyimba FC is the most decorated and richest club in Nigeria with nothing to show for it. All the NPL clubs have upgraded their stadiums and kits except for Enyimba FC angry To make matter worse Papilo is an international icon in football who have played in Europe's top clubs like Arsenal and is their chairman. Enyimba FC is a national disgrace, CAF should have called 3SC Ibadan who was the first club to win the CAF cup in Nigeria angry
The first two images are for 3SC an NPL club, the last pic is of Enyimba stadium in a deplorable state even when CAF gave them 1M USD to prepare for the competition. Nigeria Premier League clubs have improved a lot except for those clubs that come from the East because the club chairmen are being imposed on the clubs by the governors just like how Kanu was imposed on Eyimba (this is not a matter of tribalism but a national truth). SE is suffering from poor governments and it's high time !gbos start holding these guys by their balls.

The African Football League is the brainchild of FIFA. FIFA believes that African football can raise a lot of money if the biggest and most popular clubs play in a special league. It believes that this money can then be invested in infrastructure like stadiums and training grounds.

However, critics say that football authorities opposed a super league in Europe, but they are encouraging one in Africa and this is hypocrisy. They say that the AFL will not raise as much money as FIFA thinks and they argue that it might damage already existing competitions like the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

This is the inaugural edition of the competition.
It's a f****** trial and error tournament
Infantino will kill fifa
Blatter and platini were a lot of things but not stupid
Hayatou would never have allowed this
This clown has his people running CAF hence this nonsense
This is Africa thankfully so unless that super league is between teams in Ghana,South Africa and North African teams it will die off eventually

Imagine
Since the country is not well organize why can't you check b4 the match commence

Silly excuse
Don't blame the country for everything, is Shooting stars (3SC) of Ibadan not a Nigerian club undecided . Nigerian clubs have improved with international standard facilities except for clubs like Eyimba that comes from SE undecided . Truth be told it's only Enyimba Fc Aba and Enugu Rangers are not doing well in terms of facilities and branding
Image 1 => Akwa United's home ground that Eyimba borrowed for the CAF competition
Image 2 => 3SC home ground
Image 3 => Enugu Rangers stadium
Enugu Rangers and Enyimba FC are a national disgrace to NPL angry, the NPL management is being cautious of sanctioning them to avoid any form of tribal witch-hunting profiling.

So were they not aware that he was registered with number 3? Useless excuse from useless administrators
Re: Enyimba Explains Why Innocent Gabriel Okey's Jersey Number Was Hand Written by Akinpresident: 9:21am On Oct 24, 2023
The excuse of number registration is lame. Must you play that particular player? Can't you sub him and start another player while you find a way to print another shirt. You can not tell me there's no way you'll find a place where you'll print shirt in Uyo within 30mins or less even if it means the player missing first half and start on second half.

Enyimba Football Club of Aba lost 0-1 to Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in the brand new African Football League on Sunday, but the attention of Nigerian football fans was focused on the jersey of Innocent Gabriel Okey. It looked like his jersey number was handwritten with chalk.

Very many Nigerians slammed Enyimba on Nairaland, Twitter and Facebook and the club has now provided an explanation for the strange jersey.

According to Enyimba, there was a mix up when Innocent Gabriel was being registered and he was registered with the number 3, instead of 5. He had a perfectly normal printed number 5 jersey, but he couldn't wear it because he was registered as number 3, so they had to quickly create a number 3 jersey for him.

Let me tell you the truth, there is no nigerian football club, they are all stupid teams assembled and controlled by politicians, they chance of winning the league depends on how the present governor is willing to spend . An amateur football club in south africa or Bangladesh is more professional than this so-called Nigerians clubs, in terms of management and pays. I have been to trials and played for some clubs ,they are nothing to write home about. If I see them demanding a player stays back from moving abroad ,I will just be laughing . Their budget is bigger than some clubs in Africa but 98 percent of those funds go back to corrupt people controlling them,no infrastructure,no good management . Just bunch of fools parading as football clubs. Delta queens was once paid in cash, I saw a female player earning 200k monthly on paper but was getting half of that, the politicians chairman keeps half . The chairman was still telling her she will only get 50k that month because her form has dropped. Just imagine .

Because of FIFA and CAF.

FIFA wants this to be a showpiece event and so they want matches to take place in some of the best stadiums on the continent. This is so that they can make money from TV viewers outside the continent.
..yes...the Uyo stadium is in good condition because of daily maintenance of the stadium and it's FIFA and CAF standard stadium

This should have been caught by the equipment manager who hangs the jersey in the locker rooom. Plus once discovered couldn’t someone get a tailor to sow his name and jersey number on while he played in the first half ?

Is that why they lost the match? I hope they will not attribute the lost to a wrong pitch even at home soil!
