I was a boy of 12yrs old in 1980 when my uncle took me to Ife to see Opa Oranmiyanand not far from that place was and is, till today, the tomb of the last Oba of Benin.

Oba of Benin is from Ile Ife and when they died, their bodies are taken to Ile Ife for burial. Same thing goes for the Yorubas in Ghana, once the king dies, a message is sent to Ife and Oyo for another king and the body brought to Ife for burial. That stopped due to the distance a long time ago. For Benin, that practice was stopped too when the last one died and the current one was installed.

Anyone who wishes to argue with this fact, should go on an expedition to Ile Ife and ask to be taken to Orirun Oba Bini{meaning The Tomb of Oba of Benin}..the tombs are still there as i type and their names inscripted on the tomb.
