abdeefggh: Reno shut up your mouth, our major problem in Nigeria is corruption, since you have failed to talk about it, let me remind you, because you have been creating so much nuisance of late on social media. If we can reduce corruption by 40% in the country you will see meaningful development, 70% of our budget is stolen by politicians what do you expect the country to do with 30%. Please go and look for a job because you are becoming a nuisance. 4 Likes |

KingKO22:Secondly Did hee op is deluded because he has failed to understand that the value of naira has become so bad that a dollar is equal to a thousand naira so those countries that are making higher budgetary estimate maybe spending even lesser monies When the dollars is converted to theirs domestic currencies e.g an equivalent of 5milloin dollars in naira may execte the same project that 2million dollars can execute in South Africa due to their advance and stabilized economy. 1 Like |

nairalanda1: 1.Algeria doesn’t produce 4 times the oil we produce. They actually produce a lot less than us. Their official OPEC quota is half that of Nigeria. 2. Those figures for Nigeria are actually wrong because they are federal budget and don’t include states. If you include states it is more like $65b 3: It is not about diversified economy, Nigeria is actually a very diversified economy., it is about the fact that Nigerians do not pay the same levels of taxes as in these countries and we tend to generate most of govt revenue from oil royalties…though this is changing . Whereas other countries generate most of their monies from taxes. 2 Likes 1 Share |

azzima: Harsh truth As the World Bank said in 2019, most Nigerians do not pay taxes to state and Federal govenrment But because na world bank say am, people prefer to attack the messenger. Meanwhile in the UK, they are so harsh on tax avoiders. Avoid paying TV licence for example, and you could get into trobule. |

abdeefggh:Many of these countries have a stronger military capability compared to Nigeria. Approximately 50-70% of their budget is allocated to the military, explaining the substantial budget. |

casualobserver: Noted and corrected (check the post you quoted) 2. Those figures for Nigeria are actually wrong because they are federal budget and don’t include states. If you include states it is more like $65b It's still godawful though. 200 million people or more sharing 65 billion dollars? We should be at trillions of dollars if we weren't such a one trick pony economy. 3: It is not about diversified economy, Nigeria is actually a very diversified economy., it is about the fact that Nigerians do not pay the same levels of taxes as in these countries and we tend to generate most of govt revenue from oil royalties…though this is changing . Whereas other countries generate most of their monies from taxes. True, but diversification in this case means a diversified export PLUS tax income...like we should be exporting more of other things like raw materials, and seriously manufactured goods and services |

Catapault:You have no idea about the unlimited greediness of these politicians Let me make it clear to you, even if Nigeria budget is $1 trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000) , Nigeria will still remain underdeveloped with very poor living standards due to unlimited corruption of the leaders. Mind you, improvement in living standards of the people is the best way to determine if a government is performing well or not. 2 Likes |
