Let's always try to not allow sentiments becloud our reasoning and views. Statistics say that single mothers raise worse children than single fathers but the best remains stable home with both parents. Nobody is blaming any woman for being single parent and it is on record that some single mothers raised highly successful children too.

Many single dads are not spared either.

Actually, single father home rated almost as high as homes with both parents.

Too many single mother home I know raised children that turned out badly.

Not really the fault of the mothers, they weren't created to bring up children alone.

I am raising my child alone and I challenge anyone with a child the same age to a character test lol. A bad parent/s is bad irrespective of weather both parents are around or not. Stop with the single mother noise already.

This is subjective and not entirely true...
Alot of great men and women today were raised by single parents....
It all depends on the circumstances surrounding raising a kid as a single parent...
A kid raised in an abusive or toxic environment by both parents will most likely turn out even worse than kids raised by single parents...
While a kid raised by a single mother for example, knows that he or she needs to make the momma proud and will often do their best to grow well....

There are exceptions for instance, Ben Carson's mum raised him and his brother Curtis all alone in the absence of their father and we all know that Ben Carson turned out to become the world renowned neurosurgeon and an epitome of good character.

understand the video. She did not only talk about single mothers but also talked about single fathers and she is speaking on statistics.
her experience on America and not the world. The statistics is for America.

How did you miss that and jump into "who is the better parent"? With all those reason you cited as to why women becomes single mothers, same can be said of single fathers.
Let me also make you understand. As a single mother in America, the govt come in to support and relieve that burden off you though we understand what it takes raising a child is not easy.

As a single mother, she is entitled to receive child support from the baby daddy which there is no escape about it, he will have to pay the money. She is also entitled to receive food stamps which is enough for her to buy food. Also, if she can prove that her son As anger issues, she can receive money from the govt.. financially, a single mother is ok but all she needs do is to ensure discipline on the child.

The duty of a wive is to train a child, while the duty of a man, is to discipline the child.

Where either of them aren't present in the upbringing of the child, it tells, or shows in their character of the child.

The worst is women, they pamper their child to a fault.

Yes! That is truthfully true. Here in the United States of America, many single mothers produce the worst kids because many of the mothers are worst themselves. I've seen many single mothers in Africa as a whole doing so very fine and raising their children in such a great way so the kids can become somebody useful for themselves in the future but here in the US, na the opposite.

In this world if someone says something that chimes with our beliefs we agree without criticism or analysis

But let us analyse that a bit

What is a single mother? A woman who never married and started having children?
A woman who married and got divorced? A woman who got married whose husband died
Definition is very important
Are those three scenarios the same or are they different? If different,how?

Let us assume they are different e.g . The father died ? Does it matter if he died when the mother is pregnant,the child is aged 2, 6 10 or 14

Again even when married we see situations where the men are never at home because of work e.g soldiers,uniformed men ,oil workers get. We see situations where people are married and the father is deadbeat, alcoholic,violent gambling etc

It is intellectually lazy to make such sweeping generalisations.
Babangida is an orphan.
Andrew Jackson US president was an orphan
Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey were raised by single mothers
There are So many things that make a difference to affect outcome e.g in my view one of the most important today in Nigeria is growing up in poverty in an urban area.
It is similar in America
If you grow up with the following things in your neighbourhood you are at risk

Betting shop
Liquor shop
Drugs on the street
Prostitution on the streets
Gangs on the streets

All those girls doing hook up today ,the guys doing rituals were they all raised by single mothers?
People always look for evidence to confirm their prejudices
When the evidence is contradictory,they play ostrich..
Many women,a generation ago survived the civil war and raised kids as widows they deserve respect .

If you are born in Ajegunle you are already disadvantaged compared to someone born in Ikoyi
