Most business are breathing hard right now.

The politicians are the only ones having a free flow in the current situation.

You can imagine Buhari's nephew taking most decisions that affects Africa's biggest economy.

Tinubu fumbled by spontaneous decisions of ill-timed subsidy removal and naira floating.

But the gross of the blame is on Buhari, who heavily messed up the structure of a country.

I doubt he can even think micro economic analysis. Yet, he would not bother employing real sound minds / brains to help him.

Buhari put huge backlogs of mess on Tinubu, so Tinubu will have to find ways to breathe out through it.

But Tinubu has not shown any sign of discipline. He swims in utter corruption too. So we an issue before us.

And who brought Buhari himself? When we told you people in 2015 Buhari will be a mitigated disaster you were saying otherwise

With Tinubu,You will even beg Buhari to come back

The Malls in Nigeria are unreasonably expensive.

This is very unhealthy for small and medium scale business growth.

If they decide to translate this cost into their prices, they will not sell cos most members of the purchasing public don't have the purchasing power.

We don't have anyone to take their place if they go. They have invested premium quality equipment and capital to be here. Regulatory agencies are responsible for the high tariffs. If they have to bribe NCC, Ministry, National Assembly, and The Presidency, we the people will have to pay the bills to keep them profitable. Nigeria Airways, Virgin Nigeria all exited due to excessive demand for patronage by government officials.

Really? So, all northerners are now surviving by engaging in kidnapping and banditry! That's shocking.

Even in your environment, if you are outside Lagos, you would see the ones that are flourishing. But may be all of us should move to Lagos

Why not run a plan of using your six Months rent to buy land and build your own befitting structure rather than spending that much on a Monthly basis, the economy isn't smiling at all with how businesses are folding up by the day

Shoprite Ikeja is the best selling Supermarket in Nigeria. Sells more than SPAR, Ebeano, Shoprite Lekki, Etc.
That particular location is their cash-cow.

I now see why next cash and carry don't have many outlets and prefers to buy their own property for operation.... This cut throat rent will definitely kill a business in the long run, especially when the purchasing power of Nigerians is rapidly dwindling.

you are so wrong. Come to Abuja and see how the hausa people shop with reckless abandon. They dump all sorts of things in shopping baskets including things u wonder if they actually need them.

A woman and her driver enter a mall with their kids. As shopping goes on, kids keep picking stuffs and throwing into baskets and mother will keep quiet. these happens alot as see especially in Sahad stores.

When u want to pay for your little shopping and queue behind a hausa shopper who is already checking out his goods, you go wait taya

i have not seen shoppers like them.

reminds me of the song, "LANDLORD TRAVEL AND SEE"

Shoprite Ikeja is the most patronized Supermarket/Mall in Nigeria. I think it was also the first Shoprite outlet/mega-mall in the country.

If it closes down, then it means no Shoprite left in Nigeria.

Modified: The Palms, Lekki was the first and also used to have the highest patronage.

It was gathered that one of the major reasons is that Shoprite pays rent to Ado Bayero Mall a wholesome amount of N66million on a monthly basis, aside from the independent electricity bill they get from the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), and the cost of fuelling and maintenance of its standby generator

Omoh this is Kano ooo..
Then what will it look like if it's a place like Lagos

Yet some dull brains are still praising the blind and humanless government with no directions to govern the country, they see nothing wrong with what's going on in the country, why would a company leave your a country due to the country economy, GSK wey I grow come meet done commot and many others, soon schools and health centres will close down ....fvck

Another thread to bash BAT and the APC government!

This is the drug of the Nigerian opposition!
Very clear effect, obvious effect of corrupt leadership & anti people policies. Now Only a handful of individuals can afford or patronise the ShopRite.

These elite cannot just go there and purchase for example 1000 3l cooking oil just because they have embezzled billions and want to help the shoprite biz. He will simply buy only one cooking oil that he needs.

Since majority of masses purchasing power and affordability has been destroyed by these policies that do not facilitate spreading of a country's wealth, ShopRite is now experiencing significant reduction in revenues, leading to them taking the decision to exit the country.

If you like, close your ears.

Wahala dey, there is serious problem with the economy.

The naira is falling because we are not earning enough dollars, so imported goods become difficult to buy

We saw this in the 1970's when imported stuff got cheap because of high oil prices meaning more dollars. Then came the oil price crash, and then imported stuff got hard to see.
not really, we're not supposed to be dependent on imported goods in the first place.

We need to boost local production of finished goods that meet international standard and we export too, it's that simple. For instance, why do you have to buy imported chocolate when we have cocoa in the country?
