My daughter start when she was 1 year old. She will be 8 this year and will write her common entrance.

There are schools that follow the normal arrangements here in Nigeria. In the Lagos state scheme of work, the classes and age are written boldly there. You will see Nursery 1 (3 years), nursery 2 (4years), kindergarten (5 years), primary 1 (6 years) and so on.

My brother I'm telling you and the school fees no be here. As at that time.(2014) the kg pupils we're paying 90k per term and parents were willing to pay just to dump their wards and be off to work. Some even do after school because they work on the island and don't get back until 8pm due to the VI and third mainland traffic jam and they pay extra. I don't know how much the school is charging now though but people are still taking their children there.

To me all is competition. My child is attending so so school. Duh.

If I have my way, I'll homeschool my children from preschool to basic four. The only reason I'll enroll him/ her in a formal school is for common entrance.

just 6 months some women will stop natural breastfeeding, dump the child with househelp or crèche to feed them with formulas.

very serious...why i said 6 months in Nigeria is because most women are working class women, so they need to resume work except for some or the few that have nannies or people to take care of the baby for them...if not,, the child have to start daycare on time..

While in canada...them no send u ooo...ur child have to be five before the admitt him or her....that is why care giving job is very lucrative abroad....u will always need them

Sorry but I've been busy. If you are observant you'd notice at that age your child is developing a brain capacity, asking sensitive questions and able to remember things, at that point it's important you enroll the child in school, it'd help him/her pick up fast. But before this age it's the role of the parents to teach and train the kid at home.

Kids are developing their brain capacity right from the start, even in the womb. I agree that at age 3 they develop a new set of skills and abilities, the question is, however, why at this age specifically they should be enrolled in schools and not go to kindergarten for example? It would also interest me how the lessons should be designed? Are they expected to sit at their desks for hours? What`s the difference between a kindergarten and a school? What is the difference between education and formal education?

There's no 1 year old curriculum. Neither is there a 10 year old curriculum for a child in grade 8.

They'll be in class with the other children who are older, but their presence there means they will learn anyway. You'll just know if your child is able to learn and interact. I can't explain it.

You are absolutely right at leat Age 3 plus for primary 1 and finish primary 5 at 7 plus or primary 6 at 8 plus while some that are very intelligent might even have single or double promotion.
