After my 100level engineering in Uniben, prospective 200l students stay behind in school during the supposed holiday for what the school calls UBIT (university of Benin industrial training). It was during this Ubit one evening after lectures I went with my friends to hall 2. Hall 2 is a girl's hostel but because the school was on holiday, it was used for guys while hall 1 was for girls. So, that evening say about 7 or 8pm in one of the rooms in hall 2, a guy came to the door and said, "I dey look for Stephen, where Stephen, I dey look for Stephen". Mind you we were about 5 guys in the room, no courtesy or anything so no one responded to him. I decided to respond by saying "Stephen don die" the guy ignored me and continued asking his question, every one ignored him except me repeating, "I say Stephen don die". He then faced me, "guy Wetin dey worry you, you dey craze?" I responded "na you dey craze, you no dey hear wetin I dey talk?" He was shocked that I could reply him so boldly with so much authority... So he asked, who you be? I no know you"

I stopped sleeping in my room, I was sleeping in my friend's house and he was sleeping in another person's room to avoid me. Then the 002 stepped in and beat the guy, he told the guy I was like a brother to him. I failed exam that dropped me from first class.

I almost got killed, God spared my life. Another boy was asked to drop out of school for one semester or get killed.

Hilltop UNN was known for cultism during my days, I was friends with most of them but I never joined. It saved me alot from intimidation because everyone on campus thought I was a cultist and they feared me because I was always in the midst of cultist..my lodge then had all the males there as cultist except me. Nobody knew I wasn't a cultist because everyone sees me as a bad boy, I was feared in faculty. I remember slapping a lecturer and he still came back to beg me secretly. My first yr I arrived the hostel with cousin, brother and uncle.
Normally you are supposed to pay for your bed space but instead I paid for the room because I like being alone. Unknown to me, there was a chilling spot opposite the hotel reserved for cultists. I always went there alone and I used to spend nothing less than 3k on food and drinks I didn't know that I was displaying rich kid attitude. Whenever I am at the spot I always meet these final year guys smoking and drinking and I always hail them because I love how they kept it real, gradually I became friends with them because I could relate with them well sometimes they offered me drinks and meats which was unusual because I never had a friend buy stuff for me, gradually we started helping each other out but I never visited them and they never visited me we only met outside, and whenever were together I usually turned the conversation into something intellectual like politics, economics, religion. I guess itwas one of the reasons they respected to an extent. It was when I met one guy Kelvin in my class and we also stayed in the same hostel, we became friends and sometimes we would go to the spot to chill but whenever kelvin sited those guys coming he always exits the spot siting one excuse or the other, one day I asked him why and he said those guys are baggars cult members. I was shocked. To cut long story short I was harassed on morning on my way to class, my shirt torn, I was slapped... the attackers thought I was a beggar member. I Told my family members about it and the next day I was out of that school, I didn't carry any property just my clothes and laptop. I never went back.

Yea you are right, I think my Cousin was a kind of shield to me to some extent. Almost everybody in my faculty thought I belong because once in a while he do come with his group to visit me; even when he left, his gang always sees me as their little brother and sometime they will buy lunch for me . It was only once, one of his godson(Ibori) tried to talked me over into it, I told my Cousin and he warned him never to tried that again.
