GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of the underlisted as Chief of Staff and Special Adivers to the Rivers State Governor.

A. Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie - CHIEF OF STAFF GOVT. HOUSE.

B. SPECIAL ADVISERS

1. DR. Darlington Orji.

2. PRINCE Solomon Abel Eke.

3. BARR. AMINAYANASAM FIBERESIMA

4. ENGR. DEEYAH BARIENE.

5. Ohia Prince.

The newly appointed Chief of Staff and Special Advisers alongside one guest each are expected to be seated at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Monday, 29th January, 2024 at 10:30am, for the swearing- in ceremony by His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State at 11:00am.

Am wondering between a Speaker of the House and a Chief of Staff which one is more better.

For me it's the former

Chief of staff in a State is the Defacto Governor of that State. Just as COS to the President is the Defacto President of that Country.
All Civil Commissioners, SPA's, SA's, PA's, CPS, Heads & Chairmen of Government board and Agencies appointed by the Governor or the President are under the direct supervision & control by the COS.
A speaker must get cleared by the COS if he desire an audience with the governor and same goes to all the commissioners, etc.
The COS is as powerful as the governor, though he work behind the scene

Fubara is not ready for a fight

Pastor Adeboye of RCCG visited Portharcourt yesterday. He held a rally at the stadium and the number of dignitaries (Fubara, Peter Obi, Tonye Cole, Adeboye, etc.) having chitchats got me thinking aloud.

1. Adeboye: Most Obidients hate him because he didn't opening support their candidate. He has always been non-partisan which is good. His mandate is evangelism not Politics.

2. Peter Obi: His supporters hate Adeboye yet he came to the programme all the way from Anambra. He sees the man as a Father and is always happy to be around him. What an irony!

3. Fubara: He gave a brief welcome speech. He specially acknowledged the presence of Tonye Cole. He also dedicated his election victory to God. And sort the cooperation of everyone including his opponent in leading the state.

4. Tony Cole: He gave a Testimony and thanksgiving speech. He accepted his fate and he is Happy to work with Tonye Cole to move the state forward.

These big men wine and dine behind closed doors and even in the open. Yet, the impoverished populace keep fighting themselves over ethnic or political affiliations.

You are right... But can a chief of staff impeach a governor?

You should have made your point without mentioning the Speaker.

If not for the way our democracy has been badly battered, way back, the legislature used to be the nightmare of the executive.

Instead of good governance, these ones were busy fighting since day one.
