Funny enough I am seeing the hand of God in this
This is because BAT is just being exposed and disgraced not just as being grossly incompetent, but for being hypocritical because same subsidy he rallied against GEJ,claimed does not exist, but is not only going behind the back to pay, after having stupidly floated the ₦ at the same time, but is now paying at least double what other presidents ever paid.
Who says God doesn't exist indeed!
I'm surprised most of you believe every bad news that happens to Nigeria almost immediately but if this is good news now you will all say it's a lie. You people are part of Nigeria problem. F00ls. So you are saying God is the reason for our suffering in Nigeria right now? Because PO is not the president? We are our own problem.

If you have knowledge of advance fiscal and Monetary ECONOMICS, you will understand that the hardship in Nigeria is just starting.
No sane country will float their currency as a national policy and remove subsidy in a sector like ENERGY at the same.

These two policies at the same time is like trying to conserve OXYGEN by holding someone’s noise tight hoping that the person can also breath through the anus.

On the issue of subsidy removal, Tinubu acted like a promiscuous Nigerian male undergraduate who simply rushed out to buy CONDOM and changed his bedsheets simply because someone told him that he sighted his girl friend in their neighborhood. No plan of the said girl friend's visiting initially.
No consideration of whether the girl is in that neighborhood just to buy sanitary pads. Acting before planning at the extreme.

With time tissue paper may be sold at N12,000 per unit. Ph. Ph.D. or professorship can not guarantee the quality of economic advice or policy implementation.

Where are the Tinubu keyboard warriors who sang his praises and presented him as messiah Nigeria needs?
There insightful contributions now would have been helpful and really appreciated.
What amazes me about governments in Nigeria is how quickly they rush into decisions that inflict pains on Nigerians without any careful consideration. They all do and you can't spare any one of them since 1999.
Yet they NEVER see themselves as a group that should make any sacrifice in cutting down the size of their governments or the amounts they vote for themselves - that's sheer hypocrisy...
reason Nigeria can't make any progress.
Everybody is insincere.
People cash out on every calamity that befalls Nigeria
Subsidy, people benefit
fuel scarcity, people benefit
forex hoarding, people benefit
common NEPA man will come to your neighourhood and they'll be looking for ways to reap you off
market woman will benefit from any slight excuse to increase costs beyond necessary
Nigeria is in a deep mess
civil servants, don't even mention them...
Tinubu probably has nothing to offer, this is made worse by the kind of people he leads...people who like reaping where they didn't sow.
A thoughtful leader will act in steps and cautiously.
SInce childhood, we've known that whatever affects pump price, affects every other thing. In recent years, it became whatever affects dollar exchange rate, affects everything. What kind of leader will bring the two multiplier effect triggers into action at the same time? A stupid or wicked one?
It was Reuben Abati who said demons live in Aso Rock (https://guardian.ng/opinion/the-spiritual-side-of-aso-villa/). Of course he was there! he knows what he's talking about! Maybe these demons direct the thoughts and actions of our leaders.
At N1 098/l petrol landing price, at N600/l retail price, at N1tr subsidy monthly, hardship in Nigeria seems to be on a rehearsal... it's yet to start.
We really need divine intervention
Refineries locally need to work - not the Dangote type, I mean refineries owned by government, managed on behalf of the people.
We need to diversify our economy; invest heavily in education, the so called informal sector; protect local industries, small and medium scale industries, re-orientate people to think differently and not see any misfortune of others as an opportunity to blow- it may seem irrelevant but it's as important as making refineries work if people factor must be considered in making a society work.
Because these things might be impossible to achieve, I can only feel extremely sorry for innocent honest Nigerians who are not reaping in anyway from this chaos.

That's country that think about it's citizens. 2018 or 19, Luxembourg subsided transportation to cut down on greenhouse emission and also encourage a fewer cars on the road. These are counr that wants to work and they are working.

Truth is, whatever our government pronounced to do to cushion the effect of this madness, never believe them until they start from the core problem, which I believe they can't until the people be on the toes.

Nigeria problems are way rooted in deep and there's no hope in sight soonest.

Right now, public transport in Luxembourg is free.

It is not his fault sir. When he built Lagos cement was cheap unlike now that one bag is 12k. What do you expect him to build Nigeria with? Agbado or ewa?

maybe removing subsidies and floating the exchange rate at the same time is unsustainable for Nigeria

Tinubu should have just removed the subsidy but leave naira for some time to watch the economic reaction to the subsidy removal
What does floating naira means. I don too hear this term.

Just a term used for dollar subsidy

During previous administrations the government supply dollar at a fixed rate just the same way petrol is supplied at a fixed rate

The way/rate at which the government is getting the dollar is more expensive than how much they selling it hence dollar subsidy

Most of the bureau de change gets their dollar at subsidized rate from CBN then sell at a slightly marked up price to the populace

Now government stopped supplying anyone subsidized dollar claiming the subsidy is not sustainable

That's for countries seriously developing. They deliberately are putting things in order, not giving excuses, accusing or blaming.

Democracy is a disaster. when it fails, it leads to so much chaos and hopelessness that one would begin to nurse the ideas that the military would be a better option. This is borderline nonsense. People just hold positions for the sake of personal gains and offer nothing absolutely. What a mockery

Point of correction.
democracy is never a disaster, It is not a disaster in US, UK,Canada e.t.c.

What do you people want Tinubu to do,to allow Petro to be sold at #1500? Even if Government is still paying for subsidy codedly,by a month or two it will stop when refinaries begin to work.

What magic would the working refineries do?
Do you think all the refineries working would reduce cost of petrol?

Typical APC clown.
