Really?

Why not?

And our moorons in Nigeria tagged him Evil Genius. undecided

Sagamite, walahi I cringe everytime I hear Nigerians use that phrase "Evil Genius"

Evil yes, Genius kini Who dash monkey banana?

We have enough geniuses in our History, IBB is not smarter than any prison guard or slave driver.

Geniuses lift their people up, not ruin them, they bring out uncommon solutions, not recycle retardded ones.

How can anyone look back at how Nigeria regressed between 1985 and 1993 and call that gap toothed Idiooot a genius?

How?

It probably tells you more about the person's IQ than it speaks of Babangida himself.

You definitely got it. Part of its characteristics is the ability to move emotions.

I think the experts call it the highest form of writing.

He who has not yet passed on, should never wish a violent death for his neighbour because he knows not which will end his life too.

If Gani's son's statement is sth to go by, i will say he is not getting it at all. I don't like this issue of wishing sb dead. As u can see, Babangida is sick, leave it for God to handle, he may or may not make it, it only depends on how God want it. He's seventy-sth yrs now and u are probably in ur forties and wishing him dead where as u don't know whether u will make it to that age before u die. Babangida may have killed some people but i still suggest u keep mum and watch as things unfold instead of wishing him dead and remember, God don't answer such prayers because ur wish and that of God is not the same and can never be the same. I am sure if IBB is ur father, u will not want to hear people wish him dead no matter what he may have done. Leave God to do his will.

Very deep thinking. I agree that only he who had passed should wish violent death on his "neighbor".

IT IS VERY WRONG, FOOLISH AND IGNORANT FOR SOMEONE TO RESPECT IBB THAT CAUSED MANY PAINS AND SETBACK FOR NIGERIA.
WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND STAND AGAINST CORRUPT POLITICIANS RATHER THAN SYMPATHIZING WITH THEM.

ALL THE PEOPLE THAT RULED NIGERIA SINCE THE CIVIL WAR SUPPOSE TO DIE AND LEAVE THE STAGE FOR NEW GENERATION.

actually he said newspapers.
it is my understanding that his father bought and kept every nigerian newspaper for decades.
a newspaper in isolation is like a snapshot but the whole thing is a movie. in the case of nigeria a pornographic one.
i think newspapers are a mine of information if you know what you are looking for.
his fathers interest (and his) was litigation against government. often the newspapers were the only way of learning of certain actions/plans of government
and this was the basis of several of his suits. we did not have freedom of information laws in Gani's lifetime and so i don't think we should sneer at his statement without knowing the context.

Can we move on, Ibb, Buhari, Obasanjo should be kept in the past. Let's think of better n productive ways to change this country and move forward. The young man has every right to be bitter but he has to move on and live his own life. I read something recently on Lord Lugard's assessment of Africans and its really painful that after 89 years, same na ni.

“”In character and temperament” wrote Lord Lugard, “the

typical African of this race-type is a happy,

thriftless, excitable person. Lacking in self control,

discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and

naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with

little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving

weapons as an oriental loves jewelry. His thoughts are

concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment,

and he suffers little from the apprehension for the

future, or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to

the animal world than the that of the European or

Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals placidity

and want of desire to rise beyond the State he has

reached. Through the ages the African appears to have

evolved no organized religious creed, and though some

tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense

seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more

often to take the form of a vague dread of the

supernatural”

He lacks the power of organization, and is

conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of

men or business. He loves the display of power, but

fails to realize its responsibility ….he will work

hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the

courage of the fighting animal -an instinct rather than

a moral virtue……In brief, the virtues and defects

of this race-type are those of attractive children,

whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as

to an older and wiser superior and without

envy…….Perhaps the two traits which have impressed me as

those most characteristic of the African native are his

lack of apprehension and his ability to visualize the

future”

totorimi:

The greastest enemy we have in this country today are the youths of this nation. They have failed woefully. We sit back and blame past leaders for our situation. Unaccomplished dreams, bleak future and all. We curse and swear for them to die a painful and bitter death. Does that solve the problem. Even if they die now I mean IBB, OBJ, Buhari,Shonekan, Abdulsalam and the rest of them have they not all attained the biblical age of 70, in other words they have ran the race and fought the good fight and they can all beat their chest and say I have etched my name in the sand of time.Forever and ever their names will go down in history whenever and wherever the story of Nigeria is written. Today the average youth of today will count him or hrself blessed to reach 70 with all the challenges of our time. I say again the youths of Nigeria of today are the greatest threat Nigeria has. Todays youth are a disgrace and a big let down be it the elites amongst us or the everyday youths on the street. We have been brainwashed, interested in the fake life and hiding under mask to throw tantruns, they throw bombs, write all sorts without making any positive move to guarantee our future and the coming generation. At the present we have seen what is happeneing in our nation, what contributions have the youths made both those within and outside the government. Yes we do have youths in government where is the youthful zeal, where are the youthful ideologies, none rather we see complacency both within government and outside government. Those outside are afraid they are grumbling without taking any action for positive change. Those within are stealing and not bothered about the future of the coming generation. So sad indeed, all we do is live our fake lives and make empty threats of been the future of Nigeria, what future if i may say a bleak one indeed. The youths yes all of us should go bury our heads in shame, because we have failed the country. We have the power, we have the strength, we have the know how to fix Nigeria once and for all. The youths in the Arab world have shown us the way to do it. We can collectively make that change we want for our country. I recall how the youths of Nigeria of old stood up in one voice and said no to OBJ during the ' Ali must go' era at the end of the day we got the change we needed. Yes sacrifices must be made for our freedom. There is no peace without war. The youths of Nigeria must stop lamenting and rise up, its our future its our country we have no other we must fight for her future and progress. We cannot continue to wallow in self pity and allow wasted people to mislead us with religious and tribal sentiments. We must unite as youths and make that positive change we need. The mistakes of the past have gone and we have learnt our lessons. Never again should anyone say the youths of this country cant rule Nigeria, never again should anyone shut our universities and have their own kids abroad, never again should anyone ignore the potentials of the youth, never should people steal our money, sack the youths from work while they and their cronies are looting the treasury, never again should our wives and children die in our hospitals while they fly abroad for the slightest ailment, never again should the youths of Nigeria be looking older than their fathers. Never Again. So let us confine the old brigade where they belong, ignore them let them live with their concience let them see where they have led us to. This is the present, those who are there today let us hold them by the jugular to deliver on their promises or we use our strength to show them the way out. No time for dolling. Thats my own take on this thread. IT is well with Naija.
its not enough to blame the youths for the myriad of problems besetting nigerian presently,it takes a single person to kick start whatever revolution to take our destinies back.rather than your comments why don't you volunteer to kick start and see if people will not follow you.it took a single individual setting himself on fire to kickstart the middle east revolution.
let us stop this shifting of blames and take pro active steps,

what i am not confident enough or prepared to do,i don't blame other people for it

Typical Yoruba man , egocentric and boastful. Will never be the chip of the old bloke , will end up less than Femi Kuti, less than Bob Marley Junior . Gani's shoes are too big for this man. You have to inherit other qualities and not just the  bitterness, which is obviously multiplied in his mind. And is a lie , he has never met with Buhari's son.

when i was a little boy
in childlike wonder in my native land
i tried to understand the mysteries of the world
often i contemplated the Molla
who sells cigarettes and his other
that sells the suya i love

why are they all called aboki
i wondered
i could not fathom why
they  have to squat
with kettles blue
when they do
what we do with both feet planted on
this same land

and that kettle ,aboki
where is it from?
often i wonder
if from the sky as it
is alway so blue.
why is your kettle always blue
aboki?
