It didn't come across that way.

People are going through hell in this country. Last year it was the same story on this same NL - a fellow took a loan to farm, put in months of hard labour, and in a matter of hours, herders had reduced his farm to nothing. undecided The anguish in that fellow's voice on the video he made was terrible to hear. I honestly do not know if he is still alive - he no longer posts here and has not been heard from since.

People are running out of options. There are no white collar jobs and rogue herders won't allow people to farm. If these people take to crime instead they will pay a heavy price if they are caught - and yet the system still won't allow them to earn money legally - because rogue herdsmen have made a Faustian pact with the federal government. So what exactly are people supposed to do? undecided

Exactly why we must not be sentimental. Lives should not be politicized. The government obviously need to do more, but they are not omnipresent as is evident. Since we know this fact, we must thread with caution and security in mind. Don't throw security to the wind when you do things. It's what it is. Don't put yourself in harm's way because the government has failed.

Can you imagine? Is this not an act of genocide?

He took that video in the daytime and there were no herdsmen or livestock in sight. There is no evidence that he confronted them or threatened them with violence. Why are you turning this matter upside down? undecided The farmers are not the aggressors here - the rogue herders are!! Even if someone comes here and debunks everything this farmer on the video has said - there are still hundreds (if not thousands) of true and valid cases of trespassing and farm destruction by rogue herders and their cattle - across the entire country. These cases go back years. Again I ask, what do you want people like this farmer to do? undecided

This rogue herdsmen matter is not a new problem. It has lasted this long precisely because the government allowed it to. A government that looks the other way when people are being pushed to the wall in this manner - is that a government? undecided

What exactly do you want? You want me to rant and whine about herdsmen and government? i don't have such unproductive time to waste. My advice to people like the farmer is to stay safe. Life lost cannot be gotten back. Don't lose your life to herdsmen because you want to eat or make money. Find something and some place else, if you cannot be safe where you are.

This is really sad... 2 acres of plantain farm was finished by Fulani cows in Ekiti, simply because they believe they can graze their cows anywhere they like. The suckers he paid for, land he worked hard on for a whole year, all the produce gone like that.

If you can't buy farm lands or hay for your cows, you have no business rearing cattle... Anyone going into farming in Nigeria must equip himself with enough security and cameras cos these people are really destroying lives.

Most importantly, state governments should set up forest guards and comb the forests from time to time. Governors should stop acting useless and help their people, at least Buhari is no longer president. Enact laws to protect farmers and any herder who damages people's farms should be made to pay for it with their cows! Where do you want Nigerians to turn to if they can't even farm? Maybe everyone should go into crime so we can know what's up!
Bandits just demanded N40trn from the FG. They are telling sane people you better go into crime.
The country's breakup is imminent!
