they'll not tell the truth about their mission in that community, they are not there for any peace mission, they are there to oppressed the community because the other community that they had land dispute with was using the army to have advantage over them, it was on that they ran out of luck and got ambushed by the militants, because the community has already informed the militants what the army is doing to them.
