How much is ₦178k per month as long as minimum wage is ₦1.3m per month?

Once you increase tarriff, just increase minimum wage, then we are good to go.

Why are you guys always comparing US with Nigeria, to support your evil plans data from the US will be used. Have you compared the minimum wage in US too, what is the average Nigerian purchasing power, must you tax and increase everything? This country never sees to amaze me

I have always said it here, Nigerians that can afford 24 hours electricity already have it

There is no one that wants electricity 24/7 that can't get them

Nigerians want the impossible which is free/cheap and steady electricity... Electricity is luxury and we are too poor for it right now

We don't need electricity for development

There is absolutely no company you can start only when you have electricity 24/7 that u can't start now
Nigerians don't speak or understand the language you are speaking.......
People who are charged estimated bill of 3k a month are still owing, yet they want 24/7 power....
If I had a power distribution company, I won't supply power to customers who don't pay.

The systems we compare Nigeria to are systems where people pay their bills.
The average Nigerian is criminal minded, he looks for every avenue to jump, this is why they they feel that what ever the government is doing, good or bad is criminal.
Provide every good thing for a Nigerian and he will think the worst.
I am paying the school fees of the kids of an old grade school friend of mind, the wife spoke to me about opening a supermarket for her, discussed with the dude he said "no problem" 2 years down the line, I am back in the country and I hear people saying dude said I am sleeping with his wife, else why would I spend 5m opening a supermarket for her, he couldn't think that I was just a man with a good heart, his only thought was the worst, sleeping with his wife.
I have given up on these folks.

It only cost me 100 cedis a month to have a constant 24 hours light here in Ghana
And it will cost me 250 cedis a month if I include my AC, Refrigerator and Tv set.

So with the exchange rate in the black market 100 cedis is =10,000 naira
While 250 cedis is =25,0000 naira,
I only get to know that electricity cost so much when I visited Nigeria unlike here in Ghana, Nepa will bill 20k a month for a light that hardly goes for 10 hours a day.
There’s no big deal in having 24 hours light, just that it will not favour the government.

Even an uncompleted houses here in Ghana with no development in the area enjoy 24 hours light.

Whether you're in America or Nigeria, power generation no be beans! It has nothing to do with wages or what you earn. The cost to generate electricity will always dictate what you pay. For example, electricity is way cheaper in Alabama than California because California suffers from excessive drought and over population.

It does not matter if people in the USA are spending less than $200 per month on 24/7 electricity, if the cost to generate same electricity is much higher in Nigeria then Nigerians will naturally pay more.

So rather than dream of impossibilities such as 1 million minimum wage, the discussion should be how can we make electricity generation cheaper in Nigeria.

At thag price, the average 3 bed house will spend well over 500k monthly, minimum. I know, because where I reside the tarrif is about 130. With that, I was spending (despite unplugging deep freezer, abandoning acs, only using fans) and average of 150k. Now imagine that the tariff will be 266 kwh.
Truth of the matter is that busineses will close. How will hotels, eateries, factories, schools etc operate? Busineses already struggling with high diesel cost? Do you know that the recent audit of a school and hotel business I saw the books, they all ran at heavy loss as all the income went to powering generators? They then wan to to add high electricity cost "join"?
Wonderfull how these guys think. This is the implication of electing people with no visible source of income, no factories, consultancies, industries etc into office. Wealthy people without any form of enterprise. People that have made billions through links to politics. That can award contracts worth bilions with a pen, make money without leaving their beds. They never know how busineses work, how they survive, how the average person makes end meet.
Anyway, people might take it lightly, not until they load 10k Nepa card and it last half a day.

That your last sentence !

Someone up there said he loaded 500naira and got just 2 units.... grin grin...even for a poorly furnished house with little to no appliances aside bulbs, that can barely last a day... cheesy...

My own questions are?

1.a- Is the power supplied by United State of America?
b- If No, why do you need need to calculate our tariffs based on the dollar rate?
c- if yes, abeg tell us which channel they are supplying us with power because the last time i checked, kainji and other power dams/plants/Stations are not situated in The USA

socialmediaman:
The Tinubu government has just increased electricity cost for band A customers to N225 per KPH.

For context, customers in the US pay about the same cost per KPH (or cheaper) depending on the state you live in.

Energy analysts are explaining that Nigerians are willing to pay more if they have access to electricity.

Based on data from NerdWallet, the average monthly electricity cost in the US is about $137 which is about N178,000.

Are you willing to pay N178,000 monthly for electricity for a 24-hour supply?

Let's look at the facts on ground.

House 1
Power load = 2000W
Average of 20hrs/day gives 600 hours in a 30 day calendar month.
Power consumption = 2kW * 600h = 1200kWh
Cost of power consumed = ₦225 * 1200 = ₦270,000

House 2
Power load = 2000W
Power is generated using a 2.5 kVA petrol generator. Running wattage is 2000W.
Fuel efficiency = 1.1litres/hour (15 litres in 14 hours at 50% load - generator will consume more if we increase the load but let us stick with this for the purpose of this comparison)
For House 2 to generate 600hrs in a month requires 660L of PMS.
At ₦560/litre, House 2 will spend a sum of ₦369,600 in an attempt to replicate power supply from DISCOs. Maintenance cost has not been factored in these calculations.

A lot of small scale businesses spend up to ₦178,000 monthly running petrol generators.

Power is not cheap!

Are you trying to justify nonsense??
Is petrol price supposed to be that high to raise the price of power using generator??
The little comforts that the masses were hitherto enjoying have been snatched away by this evil government.
Instead of fighting corruption they removed subsidy and caused mega inflation without corresponding increase in salary both in public and private sectors. Meanwhile they have made more money available to themselves for sharing and looting. E no go beta for them

1 day ie if just 1 fridge is on. Deep freezer disconnected. 1 unit 1hp Ac used at night ie my bedroom.
2 days if just fans are used with 1 fridge. 2 tvs.
Kids will be back from uni in 2 days, so possibly I will have to budget 15-20k daily as they will use their room acs, turn on their tvs, living room Ac too. Afterall after suffering in school hostel heat, the few days they will be around, one cannot deprive them the comfort of comming home.

Some people have destroyed this country for personal gain and their children won't benefit from it. Generating electricity for the whole country will create thousands of jobs. An ordinary monkey can figure that out. Sambo is one of the saboteur of electric generation. Jonathan lost me when he allowed his power minister to resign because Sambo told him to sack him.Sambo had and interest somewhere that we didn't know as usual. Whatever is working I will let somethings slide until I get my result then take action. Jonathan wanted to please Sambo.

you dont get it bro the oyinbo people who are actually running Nigeria from European/US embassies dont care about creating jobs for Nigerians , what they care about is depopulation.

Its the same people killing all farmers so food price will go up that are raising the price of electricity and essentials so that people can go and die quickly , am very certain they are the same oyinbo that made the concoction for sniper available .

They dont give a used toilet roll about jobs, they want all the middle class and poor people all over the world to die off quickly especially Africans , THAT IS WHY THEY ROLLED OUT THE C19 POISON JAB and you talking about jobs

They dont give a biscuit about economy or jobs , they want everybody to vacate the planet, do you get it now.

Do you think its just a coincidence that all the terrorists are civil servants and they are mainly killing farmers as food prices goes up too.

you people have no idea how much the oyinbo running Nigeria hate black people.

The year before covid, they were busy increasing the number of burial ground all over the country , so that people were complaining about location of some of the proposed burial ground, and you think they care about economy or jobs.

Better know thy enemy, so that you not dreaming whilst in grave danger
