It's clear that not everyone fully considers their arguments when discussing Nigeria in comparison to South Africa and Canada. Have you looked into the expenses involved in generating, transmitting, and distributing 1Kw of electricity in these countries? 1 Like |

deji17: This is a stupid take. Even though you are entitled to your opinion, this is a stupid opinion. What matters when talking about basic amenities is affordability. Not those rubbish you typed up there. And then, increase in electricity tarrif does not add one megawatt to our grid. Just so you know. So, there won't be better supply of electricity. All these while it was gradually increased, supply didn't increase!!! Use your brain ómó ìyá. 1 Like |

Dbegining:Very typical. Abuse with no meaningful contribution. Will this your abuse add single megawatts to the grid? In case you don't know, 85 % consumers are still paying subsidized price. How do you add a single megawatt if you are not recouping the cost of production? 1 Like 2 Shares |

deji17: If these guys are not recouping cost of production, don't you think the company would have shut down? Bro the essence of subsidy is to recoup the cost of production, so rationally, the subsidy makes everything normal. And yes, 200m nigerians are worth any amount it takes to give a basic amenity such as electricity. |

allthingsgood:Regarding your first argument, are we supposed to pay before service? Do your customers pay you in anticipation that you'll deliver high quality products in the future? Regarding your second argument, whose duty / responsibility is it to check meter bypass? Yours? Mine? In summary, put yourself in their shoes. Not just that, relate with with your current realities(I'm assuming that you're a regular Nigerian like majority of those who will be forced to pay this tariffs) . Do your clients pay for your inadequacies? |

30,000 naira after working for someone for 4 weeks - Monday to Saturday in many cases. You can’t end corruption in this country wit this figure as minimum wage. Everybody in Nigeria is desperate to make money so they can impress and oppress only. Omooba77: |

Offpoint1:Canadian power, atleast in most provinces, will never collapse. They spend too much money on that system that it's almost too solid for it to collapse.. My employer which services only about 1.4 million people is investing equivalent of N1,055,820,240,205 (over 1trillion naira) or $1.18 Billion just for this year alone on infrastructure upgrade and maintenance. Hence we will end up back to square one but with now a pricier bill. The subsidy removal on power in Nigeria would have been a good idea, but the only issue I have is that the money may be looted elsewhere. |

Slytiger: Compare that budget of $1.18 to upgrade and maintain an already stable electric grid for just 1 4m prople to what Nigeria will be spending on electricity for 200m people. |

helinues:is it illiteracy or pretension you are displaying in this forum. SA with a population of about 40 million generates more than 42,000 mw while Nigeria big for nothing with more than 220 million still struggles with 3000 to mere 4000 mw of electricity, and you are here running your mouth like agbado. I pray that this hypocrisy of yours in defending evil may not pass down your lineage with a great CURSE even before you exit this world. Be very careful for your careless support of oppression of the poor. Life may really happen to you because of this play play way you call black white |

helinues:Please which stable electricity? My area is listed as part of band A that has over 20hrs light but that is a bogus lie. I was at home for 10 days and the light was nothing to write home about. Me and some community people complained bitterly that the light wasn't like before again because it now erratic and a whole day they may not being it but same place listed as band A. Let us continue deceiving ourselves, thinking we are deceiving God. One thing about God, he will just be looking at our foolery till we go deep into it. That has been the story of this country. |
