....and those people struggle with paying their bills (despite their daily minimum wage is greater than our monthly)
those who struggle to pay bills are mostly students who have to pay tuition fee AND bills.
You rarely see couples or even singles (who are working only) struggling to pay bills. You can enquire and confirm.

What a nonsense statement.

These people deserve a heavy punishment from God without clemency. Is this idiot comparing Nigeria a "tropical region" to a country like UK, US and Canada?. It's unfortunate to have a daft like you as minister of power. Nigeria needs electricity for AC and refrigerators more than those countries with excessive cold.

Brainless minister!!

Even on TV people win "their electric bills being paid for a month" as bonanza (especially during winter). So yes, they struggle with bills mostly a UK thing and not necessarily Canada and USA (may be because UK don't have the type of easy credit card system America has).

So with their minium wage far higher than ours, they still struggle to pay their electric bills which is cheaper than ours (with our inflated naira, it is still cheaper).

Smh. Only ignorant people will take this OP serious.

The interview stated that the main reason is because government has been subsidising and it's unsustainable so they approved NERC's recommendation that electricity consumers who get electricity for 20 hours and above should be taken off subsidy so that government can still manage to cope giving subsidies to those enjoying less hours of electricity.

You guys better quit social media and go to great school so that Government will take you serious. That man , the Minister of Power, Adelabu, you are misquoting has a 1st Class in Accountancy from OAU, Ile Ife o.

It's not enough to hide on the social media to troll, insult and criminally cyberbully others, what do you have to offer and what are you doing to make your life and that of others better.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

You claim you're intelligent and knowledgeable but your comment is riddled with ignorance and obvious hypocrisy.

An accountant a minister of power and you deem him qualified cause he has what? First class?

What type of dumbo are you?
Low-life or wretched?

Crawl back to your hole and wait till another post you would deem fit to come and make fool of yourself.

These people are really out of touch, no wonder the country is at it worst under this administration . You are not supposed to turned off your Freezer. And in a hot country like Nigeria, you can have Ac with Thermometer on for 24 hrs , It goes off and on according to the temperature.

Less than 10% of Nigerians owns AC in their homes

Freezers supposed to be on 24/7 except you don't have anything kept inside it

Freezer is to preserve foods and the only way to achieve that is to leave it on

Thank you for clarifying the erroneous post... The government decided to remove subsidy from people who enjoys at least 20 hours electricity daily and keep paying subsidy for those who goes on without electricity supply for days, or even weeks...

I know you won't argue if I say that the only thing they have in stock for common man is torture... Everyone supporting this evil being unleashed on Nigerians will die suddenly alongside their immediate family.

Take it how you want.

If you condemn someone for doing something bad and promise to be positively different, but when in same position you now do worse, the burden of condemnation would rightly be more on you than your foregoer.

The arrogancy in power! Always making reference with abroad why not talk about the salaries and I other privileges abroad?
Even in the so-called abroad there's subsidy because of this nonsense excuse we shall pay through our nose?

Yet he has failed in performing his duties as minister of power .

Under his watch as minister of power, electricity supply is almost down to Zero .

He's clueless and not fit to be minister of power like someone rightly said above

Which electricity is down to zero?

Where do you live?

I enjoy electricity for more than 20 hours a day.

,

Yes....

Yes, I have, O great teacher, and I believe that it makes sense to let people charge their own prices, rather than do price control and subsidy.

Remember the USSR. They subsidised everything. So also many communist countries. TIll they all collapsed under the resulting debt . The comminist countries that survive have mainly adopted free market practice...that;s how China went from being a shithole nation to industrial superpower. Or they have stagnanted like North korea...which is kept alive by money from the chinese.

Prices of things don';t respect anyone's wallet.

And the estimated billing arises because of price controls and subsides preventing the discos from making money. Add stealing of power which costs the discos billions in losses. So, the company has to rip off their customers who do pay, or they collapse

So who is suppose to take care of those lapses
