Any billionaire that is investing in Nigeria clubs should know that he just doing charity work because government and certain high-ranking politicians, individuals may frustrate their effort to breakeven and become profitable.

Pls Elumelu don't go that side because you're money won't come back to you.

Though it's a good plan but not at this moment sir...

My advise though....

They should do first thing first…by putting in place good management team(i.e. referees, assistant referees, match commissioners and people of high repute). If these will not be done then the billionaires money is about going down the drains

What Nigeria league needs is sponsoring. Imagine there is huge sponsorship coming from all these folks and government as well put up a good management team of the team unlike what we presently see. Then there will be a drastic change.

It's a good idea but with the nature of local leagues, how many people buy tickets to go watch live local matches Possibility of investment will now be minimal except if they want to run charity.

Because no competition yet, very soon e go be like Europe wen football be like cult group

That’s why the suggestion was CSR.

By the way, with proper alignment across the value chain, I think it would be profitable.

Local league is not worth investing in.
That's because it's being mismanaged. Mismanagement creates a negative feedback loop

Do Nigerians obey laws and orders just like foreigners?
wetin bring law and order enter football? Are you referring to fan violence/disorder? If yes, Nigerian fans are babies compared to some ultra fans of some clubs like Roma or Inter and some EPL clubs.

This is not true. Nigerians adore soccer. If organization is top-tier, it becomes trendy to go see football games.

Sports business in Nigeria is controlled and OWNED by government. Until that changes, it's a dead zone for investment. Sign of good faith would be to abolish all the Government owned sports federations, sell off stadiums and abolish the Ministry of Sports.

That's all.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

That's because the league currently lacks investors. Most of the clubs are managed by state governors who care very little about the welfare of the players.

With the right investors, enough money would be pumped into the league. Thus increasing the quality of players, giving it a facelift and an increased fan base. And with time we'll give the south African league a run for their money. Youths would troop into various stadiums across the country every week to catch a glimpse of the action.

Even European clubs wouldn't mind coming down here for pre-season tour cos our league would be standard.
ist set up mechanism that ll make the league viable... Even fans ll put money into Barca fans pay like 60 pounds annually as fees... Same goes for Madrid Bayern Porto paying differs fees.. how many Nigerians ll be willing to pay say 10k annually as registered Fans of enyimba Kano pillars etc.. ll elumelu be willing to coughed out 500-1 billion Naira for annual budget to run a club in a league that's not profitable or without return or accountable.. let's start there ist... So nothing to celebrate here

Shoutout to Shola Akinlade of Paystack for establishing Sporting Lagos FC. Such a visionary young man.
Remo Stars owner is also doing gud and they have their stadium at ikenne but no profit as it's just charity which is why he has an academy to sell Young players abroad

Investors will only invent if the conditions are right and there is assured ROI over time

Right now, the conditions of running a successful NPFL is not right

If there was government subsidy for the local leagues, most Nigerian billionaires would have invested in them.

I am so surprised at some of the comments here. Seems lots of our youths are totally damaged which is surprising. Hardship tends to bring out the best in people in terms of real innovations but our own people seem to only get better on the bed. The only thing that works across board for them and brings out innovation is jokes, se.x, and getting married. These are the people that want to take over leadership in Nigeria. We have a long way to go.

Kudos to those who remain positive, keep acquiring new skills and still believe they are ready and can turn things around whenever they get the opportunity. There is absolutely nothing smart in negativity.

low thinking bro. There are several ways toake and generate money with football leagues. Branding, sponsorship, TV rights, ticketing etc

Did iwuanyanu not buy Spartans of Owerri to become iwuanyanwu Nationale?
Even Abiola babes
El kalemi worriirs
Leventis
Julius Berger
These are not state owned. That concept of private ownership of football clubs is not new to Nigeria.
