I don't subscribe to flogging of students because most teachers abuse such privilege. Some male teachers target female students who don't agree to their advances for flogging. And it becomes a case of if you fall into my trap, I'll deal with you.

Others just hate some students for no reason. Thus taking out their frustrations on the innocent child.

I witnessed first hand of how teachers flog students during my NYSC and I can tell you that it's pure wickedness and has absolutely nothing to do with discipline. Because flogging reduces the self esteem of some kids. It makes them timid and in most cases vulnerable to abuse (sexual inclusive). Some even avoid going to school because of this. They would leave their homes and go somewhere else just to avoid these wicked teachers.

When you see the way some of these frustrated teachers flog their students over unnecessary things, you'll understand why most parents after paying so much money to the school management take necessary steps to ensure that their kids are not turned to animals.

I'm against kids being rude to adults, but as a teacher once you know the kind of kids you're dealing with, just focus on your lectures and let them be. As long as your salary comes promptly at the end of the month, avoid unnecessary confrontations with them.

During my NYSC, I never laid my hands on any student . If you're making noise, na you sabi, if I'm teaching and you walk out of the classroom, na you sabi, I won't even call you back. If you don't do your assignment na you sabi, I'll just mark the ones that submitted and go to the staff office, sit down and press my phone. I'm already a graduate with limited time there so why should I bother myself with stubborn people who aren't ready to learn?

NYSC teaching is not teaching....moreso, you can pass knowledge to students without discipline... I didnt flog students for 10years i taught but they dare not mess with me.... the kinda words i will throw at them alone will resonate in them for a long while.
My class was always fun and engaging
Moreso, i made sure i was a rich teacher so they dont get to regard me as my parents driver or some of ther domestic staff at home.
sincerely private school teachers are going through alot

You don't what you are saying until you become a victim. By the way, I didn't mention oppression or molestation of students by teachers in my post. The post is about mannerless attitude from spoilt students engineered by their parents. That attitude that the displayed, if it were in public school, the boy would be suspended or even expelled but most private schools won't do that because the fee 💰. The management may even blame the teacher for making the issue escalate.

I was a private tutor to white kids. if u know how those kids are even their parents can't control them. I had to realise this really fast change my mundane approach to something that stimulates them, I also realised the only way they would listen to me is if I won their trust and friendship. The rest was history. All their grades improved their parents didn't want me to stop teaching them, even when they hired a teacher from their school the teacher couldn't handle them they kept calling me to come back on the children's request.

So teaching is not only about teaching or correction its about psychology and how u relate with ur class.

When u win their trust and respect u can correct them easily and keep them in order.

Every stubborn/difficult child know the right and wrong thing they just need a good reason to what is right.

Exactly.
Imagine you suffering to make your money only to pay the bride price and sponsor the wedding with a woman who has been fvcked and mounted with just two eggs and indomie. You will even use your hard-earned money to take care of her family (in laws) while the men who fvcked her brains out only gave her two eggs and indomie.

Is that the life you wish for your self?

(If you say no, may thunder fire you into sixteen pieces)
Yes

Any other thing?

Good day, fellas. After seeing a video of how a student disrespected a teacher in a school, I am prompted to share this.

Note:

Private School Students are more corrupt than public school students, yes. I know many of might be wondering but it's the truth.

Most of their parents spoilt them by over pampering them. Some of them misbehave a lot and if you discipline them, their parents will fight you and the school management will blame you for that even when they know that you are right as the teacher.

Do you know why? Money 💰 is the reason. The management don't want to lose any student. They rather prefer losing you the teacher than to lose any student. These most times give some of these students negative confidence to misbehave.

But public schools won't give you that room to misbehave. If you mess up as a student, you will be seriously dealt with without minding who your parents are.

Shhiiieeeetttt, here in the states the female teachers are ufcking the students 😅

The Nigerian school teachers/private School teachers are not going through anything -- I love that our younger generation are beginning to stand up for themselves. Those who should be teaching us good manners by setting an example and through diplomacy have oppressed Nigerian children for too long/many years, undermining their confidence. This is the primary reason why Nigerian youths today are unaware of their rights and, consequently, idolize their oppressors.

Hats off to our younger generation -- they are educating themselves about their rights via the internet. In a rational society, that teacher should be suspended for directly confronting the child instead of reporting the matter to the school's disciplinary authority. The teacher is not the child's parent.

Many of you advocating for this boy's punishment are the same individuals who spend their entire day on the internet lamenting about our government and our failed nation. However, you seem to forget that only children who are nurtured with love and set a positive example grow up with the confidence to effect change. These children do not grow up worshipping individuals simply because some FOOLS believe it is their right for the younger generation to worship them.

****** Most of you quoting me are some of the reasons Nigeria as a country is not moving forward, -- brainwashing is a BIG problem. Are you all suggesting that the child shouldn't defend himself even if the teacher verbally abuses him or physically assaults him, as seen in numerous Nigerian YouTube videos SMH

******* This is the same reason Junior Pope ( Rest in Peace) was surrounded by over 100 people, yet not a single one could muster the initiative to administer CPR to him, Instead, they returned him to the river that claimed his life -- because these people weren't taught anything while growing up apart from how to worship their oppressors.

Put your children in any school you deemed fit but take time to personally teach them good morals. That's my concern.

Oga, most Nigerians abroad will tell you this societies are not the best place to raise kids, some will say if they had the choice, they will send their kids to naija for their formative years.
Someone that visited the US few years ago was shocked to see a nephew telling his uncle to "shut up you fool" , another one told an agbalagba "dont be silly".

Why do we perceived talking back to being rude?
Unless he insulted or threaten her, I don't see anything wrong until I get the full fact.
Maybe the teacher was behaving wrong. We should teach our kids to stand up for themselves and what's right.
Again I don't have all the facts so won't jump to conclusion like most people.

This statement shows that you obviously didn't serve. If you were thrown into some remote village without electricity, water, accessible roads...etc to serve and you manage to get to your PPA only to be greeted by unserious people who don't care about their future, what would you do? Babysit them?

And note your ability to communicate is extremely limited due to language barrier.

When you teach senior secondary school students in remote villages, you'll understand that it's not all of them that's actually interested in becoming great in life. So you focus on the serious ones and impact them with whatever knowledge you can and leave the unserious ones to their faith. And that's exactly what I did.

You're attacking my post because you're a typical Nigeria always ready to judge and condemn people. And then do exactly what you condemned them for if you happen to find yourself in their shoes.

If you teach in a private school, my advice is learn the ability to ignore.
Personally, if a student don't interrupt my class unnecessarily, I just ignore and continue my teaching.
I also make enquiry on mode of discipline on resumption (for teachers and students).
And if any student refused the punishment, I will walk him/her out of by asking him/her to report self to higher authority, I will later go and give my own part of the story.

I have decided not to teach morals in class except those that needs it (it is no more my duty, parents and school owners should take care of that).
And if I do, it is advice only or call the student(s) involve for counseling.

I have decided not to work as full time teacher in any private school, if you need my service it must be part time, once I'm done, I move.

You're guilty of what you are accusing me of. I know you will be smitten by my comment and it's deliberate.
You just judged all the teachers without having an inkling of what their day-to-day life is all about. So because you were privileged to be a teacher (because it's a noble profession, not for dunderheads) for less than one year, you'd become a chief judge that can pass any judgement on them.

According to you, they beat children for no reason, they're extending their frustrations on the kids, they try to date the girls and they refuse.... yẹn yẹn yẹn. If that happens in your school, it's not the standard for other schools. I'd rather my kids be beaten by their teachers than be spared and rotten. Teachers like you who are lackadaisical about their job, who are dispassionate about their profession are what we call awọn teacher Ìsọnu.

Don't judge people if you haven't walked in their shoes.

So you are talking about an event of a decade ago like it happened yesterday, and you had the heart to suddenly make it a premise on which every other case must be vetoed! Whatever rubbish that transpired in your school was a one off, not the norm.

That is one thing, the other one is the detestable state of Textbooks that children are being forced to buy, see them riddled with horrible errors and fallacies.

sometimes they were even written by the headmaster of that same school which is even more worrying.

After they will ask why a law graduate speaks bad English. Was the bad English not supplied by the school in the first place?

Textbooks should be published according to the curriculum by respectable companies like in other countries and not used as a ploy to extort parents.

I didn't know this was a widespread practice. I checked a ward's Agriculture textbook recently and was stunned to see its material was largely based on publications and figures from the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DFRRI). This was a failed project from more than two decades back.

The grammar was something else.

I have considered writing to the proprietors to urge them to review the choice of textbook but wondered if my letter would have an effect.

With your information, I think I should hold my peace.

Hm, Sister yeye dey smell oh, I have a lot of small cousins and relatives in expensive private schools and I can tell from speaking to them that they do imbibe something positive when they go to school.

Those teachers are trying even though many of them are corpers or just want to have something doing, not that the person studied Education or is actually qualified to be a Teacher.

Yet somehow when you want to help with homework or other things and you just peep inside some of those books, you’ll be seeing stars! What you reported is the same strange outdated information I found especially in arts/humanities subjects.

And it’s the teacher giving the homework from that same book so it’s not like they haven’t noticed it. Everybody will just be pretending. Who wants to be sacked?

The only thing is that we supplement the child’s learning from home with a better book or with other learning resources from the internet. I can’t tell you whether to write to the school before they say you’re trying to teach the teacher their job!
