Two likely reasons:

A friend in the UK told his wife to be that before or during marriage, if she calls police on him, then that will be the end of the marriage because he will deem that as being that she wants to kill him because in the process of arresting him, he may struggle and the police will kill him and so it a case of if she calls the police even once, he is walking out of the marriage.
