Remember how he became the emir in the first place. It was through a political game like this one by the help of Kwankwaso.

Infact, the Aminu Bayero guy was supposed to replace his late dad as the emir but Kwankwaso gave it to Sanusi because he preferred the Sanusi side of the royal family as well as to use that gesture to give Sanusi some kind of immunity since the federal government then was interested in investigating Sanusi's tenure as the CBN governor.

Sanusi was never the right person to the throne initially but they installed him to spite Goodluck Jonathan for removing him as CBN Governor. Why confusing people up and down. As far back as 2013. Remember the late emir before him was from Bayeros' family and the stool is rotated between Bayeros' and Sanusis' families. The late Bayero erroneously made his son to be ciroma of Kano instead of one of the Sanusis' family. It makes a lot of sense without any political undertone that the emir should go to Sanusis' family after Bayeros' family has had their biteof the stole.
