solomonbrown64: Always waiting for chances and scoring isn't enough in this current English football, maybe in bundesliga, and that's why I say get him good creative wingers and Ams. Auba worked hard against only Chelsea and maybe few others games, other times, he get dispossessed, doesn't win Ariel duel nor run at defenders like firminho did to us. That's my personal issue with him, other than that, I'm not disputing he isn't doing fine, it is not too much yo ask him do more.. Your assessment of lacazette isn't fair enough. 2 Likes |

Fkhalifa: What other best do you require from someone who is second highest goal scorer in the league with just a goal behind the epl highest goal scorer? And how do you mean he will be useless witjout getting a good number 10 playing behind him? He is presently playing under that condition and so far so good he's delivering in his role. He's probably going to hit 20goals + in his first full season in England. I don't really get this personal standard you are setting for him, but belive me he has been very good at beating the normal standard to be used in judging him |

BlueRayDick:.... Honestly bro, I don't know what he wants from the guy again. He is banging in the goals and carries out his dues most times in matches for the team. If he expects him to learn how to dribble and score like Rashford at his age, then such a fan will be disappointed. |

solomonbrown64: I just weak for the bros matter. He brought Auba up to make excuse for Ozil's uninspiring performances in recent times and the stats points Auba has excelled thus far. Even Chelsea fans wish they got Auba in place of Morata. I no just understand why he want to downplay Auba's effectiveness but claim he's not doing exactly that. 2 Likes |

BlueRayDick:I see him scoring v.much if surrounded by dembele, mhicky of old, reus, kagawa Shirley, pulisic et al. Else look at the big games he's played, he looks lost and useless with very few touches. There's nothing much is telling your striker, you've been good, but do this and do that. Scoring 15 behind sallah isn't 10/10 , I'm not criticizing him -vely, I've said he's good and done well, just add this to your game daxzal.. Sanchez despite scoring 25 and assisting 10 fans ask him to release ball on time or demand few more stuffs. No Arsenal player has gotten to the 10/10 level. |

ORIJIN201:Exactly, most comments here are based on emotions. We lose and suddenly fans begin to pick on one player like cannibalistic chickens, forget his other contributions. Imagine someone calling Ozil old fashioned no 10? Lol. Whereas Ozil changed every impressions of the no 10 role during his first World Cup with vision and insightful passes. Just because he can't defend doesn't mean he is useless. What a good coach should do is build on his strengths and playdown his weaknesses. Exactly what Ole Gunner Solsjaer is doing with Pogba. Then if you don't have the patience for that, simply sell him rather than waste resources. |

Fkhalifa:The English are brutes. That is why they enjoy the physicality of the league. Wenger started changing all that by introducing sleek players. Ozil is sleek, but he has a poor demeanor which doesn't portray a gladiator kind of guy like the Sanchez or Suarez you mentioned. A poor demeanor hides all the facts. Take time to study Ozil's stats, and you will be flabagasted. Personally I was shocked to find out he has a better work rate and covers more km than Sanchez. Kindly do your research. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Spy360(m): 2:55pm On Feb 07, 2019 |
I don't get this. Every player is different with different physiques, skill sets and all. Two players may play the same wing/role but will do so in totally different ways. Laca and Auba are both CFs but totally different. That's why they respect each other. Who is better? Depends on how you want to play. When you have your back against the post, you need Laca. When you are on front foot, use Auba. Reason why Laca does better against top sides, but Auba enjoys the rest. |

Spy360: I saw the stats, I'm a big ozil fan, he was arguably the best 10 from his Madrid days and his first few seasons with us. He deserves respect from us,Madrid and Germany, but Sadly, everything comes to an end, ozil has reached his end IMO. He's won the world cup, league,fa cup, most assist, break records of chances created and assist in English football he's won almost everything winnable, he will leave England a legend and won't be forgotten, but I doubt the motivation is there again. 2018 style of football requires power, pace and energy Fabregas attested to that, that's the reason he ran to Monaco.. The only thing that could save him is either scoring or assisting anytime Emery uses him,as that's what I feel is saving Auba from being lashed. Unfortunately, he doesn't, so trust fans to come for his head, but just one goal or assist, he will be forgiven. Same with kosc, he got back from injury, commited 1/2 errors and gbam, you hear stuffs like * oh kosc is finished, retire him now, but after scoring against city and Chelsea..everyone went mute on him. That's the world we live in. |

I am totally in agreement with Fkhalifa on Ozil and Auba. Auba does next to nothing other than scoring, and he is also too wasteful. I particularly don't like him. His goals paper over the glaring cracks in his game, but I'm not deceived. Glad to know that I'm not alone in my assessment of Auba. I remember being attacked on this thread last year, for saying that Xhaka is a very poor and useless player a team hoping to win any big trophy should not be playing as first team player. Today, Xhaka has continued to justify my assessment of him. Arsenal have too many bad/poor players. In my opinion, the money spent on Auba should have been better utilized sourcing for a winger who can provide width in our play and as well score. 4 Likes |

pazienza:OMG! You are a fan who sees the bigger picture, that is our view and we are entitled to believe what we feel. My assessment of Auba won't change till I see him give the performance he gave against Chelsea all the time.. He's our record signing and should work his socks off,no one is allowed to stroll or loss the ball anyhow. No one in this Arsenal team is above criticism., no one has reached the Sanchez level, Imagine someone saying what else should Auba do,when stat showed Aubameyang has missed 17 big chances this season, the most in the league this season. But because he's a goal behind sallah in February, he has done brilliantly, and we shouldn't demand more from him. Xhaka is another sorry case entirely. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by BlueRayDick: 8:43am On Feb 08, 2019 |
pazienza: So Arsenal should have continued with Giroud or make Welbeck our top 9 and then source for a winger to complement either of them right? Like signing Carrasco to play on the wings with Giroud or Welbeck as top 9 abi? I just tire for this kind talk aswear. About 2 seasons ago everyone was shouting Arsenal should get a striker who scores goals and not pass, pass and pass even when in the box(cc: Giroud). Fast forward we got Auba who is ahead of the deadly Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane on the log goal scorers' chart and suddenly what we hear is Auba is useless. Y'all claim he scores tap-ins why didn't Giroud score tap-ins and top the Epl goal scorers chart since 2012 na? 2 Likes |

BlueRayDick: We already had Lacazette, who was still adjusting to EPL. Rather than Buy another CF, when we know our finances are limited, a better prudent use of resources would have been to get a prolific winger. Our team is unbalanced, we don't have wingers to stretch play and make our attack more dynamic, to make up for width, we push our full backs (Bellerin And Kolasinac) up front to serve as Wingbacks, the end result is that our team is often prone to conceding from counters as opponents target spaces left behind by our rampaging full backs. This full back forward bombarding issue also make our already average CBs look worst than they are, as they are often drawn out of position trying to cover up the spaces left by our full backs who are almost always camped at opponents final third. Iwobi is not a true winger, he's more of an attacking midfielder, same with Ozil and Mkhitaryarn. We have no single top winger in our team, and should have targeted signing a winger that season we signed Auba, preferably a goal scoring winger. We cant play Auba or Lacazette on the wings, as none of them play very well there, they are not wingers. Our squad is unbalanced. Auba Miss too many sitters, I get frustrated watching him play, his current goal tally would cover him for now, but it wouldn't do so for a long time. Auba recruitment was typical Arsenal style of recruitment, we don't have a plan and specific player targets to fit into the plan, we just buy any top class player that becomes available and that no other top teams are bidding for, irrespective of whether we need them or not. It wasn't long we bought Lacazette, and we buying another CF, just because he was available, when what we needed was a winger. It's akin to that season we bought Ozil, when we already had Carzola who can play similar role, simply because Ozil became suddenly available. 2 Likes |

pazienza:Ride on Prof, I dey feel you.. Someone said lacazette is jack of all trade and good at none, I was shocked.. Lacazette who was the highest goal scorer 2ce from the French league, only bettered by Zlatan ibrahimovic and Edinson cavani 2ce since 2013. Playing with Lyon who I believe is behind PSG,Marseille and Monaco in teams quality.. Wenger used Laca a lot for 60+ minutes and often subbed him for Giroud, which most fans complained about it dampening laca's confidence.. Auba came in Jan that same season, and laca's playing time reduced again, also was injured fot about 2 months, yet he was up there with lukaku, morata, vardy et al on goal tally, only Sallah,Kane aguero were far ahead. Now Imagine Laca being our main cf with minutes like other top forwards, also with quality creative wingers just for a season, only then we will know the caliber of player we posses. What makes me tip him ahead of Auba is, even if the service and chances ain't coming his way, he is intelligent enough to drop deep to the middle or to the flanks, which will result into goal either from him or his teammates. Laca is clearly a 20+ goal a season with lots of contributions towards the teams general scoring ability.

pazienza: So its unwise to have 2 top strikers in your team abi? Just have one top striker and when one is injured you bring Nketiah abi Wilock to start playing top 9 abi? Was this not the same thing we were always complaining about during the time of dem Van persoe when injury concern shows up? I really don't get why you will fault having 2 top strikers when some top teams have more than 2 sef. Arsenal should buy wingers no doubt, but saying we shouldn't have gotten a striker who is currently our highest goal scorer no just dey logical. I don tire for this line of argument already. 2 Likes |

BlueRayDick: It's good to have 10 top class strikers in your team, if you have the money. But if you are short of funds, it's more prudent to have one top striker and spend the rest on goal scoring wingers to complement the striker, rather than have two quality strikers, none of Who can play the wing role well, and would be be starved of quality support upfront by lack of wingers. 3 Likes |

pazienza:It is good to have 2 strikers, but don't start them together except they have very good footwork, Auba doesn't and laca is fairly okay. Ozil behind them doesn't make any difference. So its either Auba or laca flanked by very good creative wingers, else it would only look good on paper but boring on pitch. Pep doesn't start Aguero and Jesus together, top teams around Europe don't start 2 CF at a time. The ozil behind laca and Auba formation struggles at home even against the Cardiffs,Burnley,Brighton etc They don't look threatening nor look like scoring, it just doesn't work, but I guess fans want to see all the big names all at ones on pitch in a just mere fantasy formation. 2 Likes |

THE PROBLEM WITH OUR INJURIES I have an idea why our players over the last 10 years keep getting injured or are injury prone. It is BECAUSE they are playing beyond their capabilities in terms of stamina, muscle and bone strength….in other words, they are not playing in their comfort zone. Their body structure is not built to play the game intensely week in, week out that is why the rate of injury is mind blowing. Take them to a slower or weaker league and they would excel with little or no injuries. THE SOLUTION: There are players all over Europe and beyond whose body structure and the way they play fits the intensity of the EPL. These players are naturally hyper-active on the pitch, they run alot, cover alot of ground, have grit, tenacity and fighting spirit on the pitch week in, week out. (e la Torreira?) These players are already in their comfort zone because its the way they play their football and require little or no motivation to do what they know how to do best and they hardly get injured as well. OUR MANAGER AND SCOUTING Our manager and scouting network should look out for such players all over Europe and beyond from attack to defense and look to sign such caliber of players to Arsenal where Unai Emery can express his philosophy better through proper coaching. Injuries would be a thing of the past because here are a group of players whose comfort zone is that they are naturally fast, with stamina, grit, determination and fighting spirit. ITS NO BRAINIER THAN THIS. #Franko The above is a fans' opinion, and I think he's right to a large extent, The invincibles didn't suffer much injury, Chelsea/Liverpool hardly get their players injured despite their high spirit style of play. Forcing the sexy girls we parade to play with such tenacity may not work. I remembered how despite he(Sanchez) travelling far to Chile, get kicked alot and play too many matches, still always look the sharpest and fittest on the pitch and no sign of fatigue. Torreira is another example, he's already adapted to the hard life in English football, he doesn't look tired nor injured. # End sexy boys and get in fighters. 3 Likes |

Alex Iwobi is 22, and he's 4th in the Premier League in ball progression with just under 0.5 goals and assists per 90. Lots of other things at Arsenal have gone wrong, but if you want know how they dumped Ozil and their attack remained fine -- here's why. At Colney, where Emery says Maitland-Niles and Mkhitaryan should be available for Huddersfield. Aubameyang and Koscielny have been sick but also expected to travel. Suarez has been adapting to Arsenal and has proven his readiness this week. |
