I have been reading with dismay some of the anti-Odimegwu comments on this thread and it smacks of ignorance on your parts. If you had any idea of the decentralized nature of Igbo leadership and how every man essentially answers his father's name, you'll understand that it was no small feat that he was able to unite all Igbos in a war against a larger and more prepared force.
That nationalists like the great Zik of Africa, Okigbo and Achebe abandoned their nationalist agendas and united to fight side by side Odimegwu attests to the superiority of his vision. Arguably, Biafra wld have succeeded but for the British who didn't want to see their legacy disintegrate after only seven years.
It was our people that died in the war, our brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, sons and daughters, so why are you all taking panadol for our headache? He is our hero, fullstop! And when he returned from exile we gave him the title of Ikemba-The Power of the Igbo Nation. He was always reverred and history judges him kindly.
