No, you don't. That is why you have to decide what you really want in this situation. Will you be comfortable having you wife not respecting your parents in the long run? If yes, no problem, it's your personal choice. If no, this is the time to correct that. And how do you correct that? It's by letting the lady know that respect for your parents especially cannot be compromised by you. Mind you, unlike the scenario you painted above, it is the lady here who willingly threw away her respect by messing around and as such should be the humble one in this situation.
