A CURVE zig-zag is the BEST WAY TO CLIMB/DRIVE A HILL.
Especially in bad weather.
Unlike this! grin

Twice the journey. . .double the climb. . .same spot!
WwwwwwwwTF? cheesy

There's no way that that road could have been built on a straight line. The inclination is too steep. Of it were to be straight, the car would be at almost a 90 degree angle and would fall off. However, since it's curved, the car never inclines more than a certain amount of degrees and therefore can climb safely.

What a reetarded road.

This is what I am saying when I say Nigerian roads are sub-standard.

A cretin designed and constructed this road for people to u-turn in the middle of an expressway by slowing down on the fast lane to turn to the fast lane of the reverse road?

Worse still, just after a bend without any warning signs?

Fck Lawd!

@lasinoh

There is a yoruba saying that goes: "omo ale lo n fi owo osi juwe ile baba e". Translation: Only a bastard describes his fathers house with his left hand.

Yes we have bad roads (lots of them) but we also have fantastic roads that can compete with any road the world over. The fact that we are far from where will should be doesn't mean we must condemn everything, praise what is good and criticize what is bad instead of throwing the bath water away with the child.

About the mountain road in obudu:

When designing or building a mountain road there are so many factors to consider such as mudslides, angle of steepness, soil (texture, structure and fauna) et al hence the need to pick the lowest possible to ascend without damaging the mountain structure too much to avoid engineering catastrophes.
BTW: The road was constructed by the same Caucasians you seem to worship.

NB: the picture posted by the @op is a trunk C road wc means its the responsibility of the LGA in dat area, who do next to nothing IMHO wc makes me doubt the point of their existence in the first place

If u're a civil engineer, u'l be a quack. A straight road on a hill with steep slope  shocked, u must b kidin me.

The reason for the rigmarole or meanders in a layman's term is to reduce the effect of gravity.  tongue

manny4life:

I do agree with your point; why would they build such a road? I'm no structural engineer but having watched Extreme Engineering on National Geographic, they used big supporting steel columns and built the roads on it. Like seriously, did they have a architectural design competition for this project? They need to watch Extreme Engineering more to see designs and ideas.

You are a cretin!

So your example of motorway with "correct elevation" was with a road that was curly?

Why didn't they build it and "elevate" it vertically up then, mooron?

Did you go to school?

I mean a proper one that produces proper graduates?

Cretin saying they should build a motorway straight up a hilly place. Fooooooooooooooool!
