I was sent to help a friend deliver a package and I am afraid I might have a little challenge at the port of entry since my I-20 states 'North Carolina' on it.Please what do you think? I am leaving before the end of the month.

Why don't you call SEVIS on 1-703-603-3400 or e-mail them at fmjfee.sevis@dhs.gov. Put "Payment Verification" in the subject line. Include your name, SEVIS ID number, and the confirmation number.

You can enter through anywhere so far you have your valid visa and within the entry time. What about if I get cheaper air ticket deal from Nigeria to Virginia and then plan to take greyhound bus to NC, will officers at the POE ask why can't I take direct flight?

The last time we exchange messages on this thread, you agreed to do research on how to marry Economics as a field of study with Public Administration. I can't really ascertain how far you have gone with that. Like I told you the last time, PA is a very lucrative profession, the likes of Ban Ki- moon, the former UN secretary General and the present president of Liberia, Ellen Johnson are graduates of PA.
PA has five core branches and they are: 1. Policy Analysis,
2. Public Budgeting, 3. Ethics, 4. Operational Theory,5. and Human Resource. Link is:

therealbradleybyrne.com/2012/03/09/masters-in-public-administration-the-five-core-branches-of-public-administration/

You can choose one of the areas to specialise in and relate it with your Economics first degree. I think Public Budgeting should suit well with Economics.
You see my friend, there is need for you to note that, PA is both a field of study and profession. It is meant for individuals who want to go into government and a non profit organisation. Though the study is multi-dimentional, which means you can also fit in into the private sector as well. The ball is in your court to decide what you wanna study, only you can take this decision. Best of luck.

You've never been to the states before and I'll totally advise that you fly into the nearest airport to your school. Whomever this friend is, they should be mailing the package through UPS or FEDEX and leave ya alone.
You can't already be complaining of not having sufficient funds for a plane ticket when you are expected to pay for the length of your program without working more than 20hours/wk on-campus.
Again, I'll advise you leave the freaking package in Nigeria and think about YOURSELF first. Trust me, the whole getting on greyhound bus is not as easy as it seems.

Why getting greyhound bus isn't as easy as it seems? I'm curious. May be I'll stop taking greyhound next time I'm planning to go to Houston.

Not to scare you or suggest any foul play on the part of your "friend's friend", you have to be very very careful when people you are not very close to ask you to help them deliver things across international borders, you can never be too sure of what you're carrying, its a format for drug trafficking. Again I'm not suggesting any sinister motive on your friend's part but be careful.

This is an opportunity to warn intending travellers, dont carry or hold stuff for strangers @ d airport.

Traveling interstate to deliver a package will be stressful for you, you can post it to the recipient when you get here or better still like JK suggested, leave it in Naija.

Thanks Bruv... Are u sure with this the VO could convienced on how masters in public admin relates to Bsc Economics? I'm just scared cos I don't want any denial as this will be my first time of going to an embassy, I hope u know what I mean. I've been following this thread from part one and I ensure to log into this thread every single day to read peoples posts and I copy and save sucesses stories and failed ones just to have them on my note pad and compare. I've also noted that being bold and looking into the VO's eyes and having a sound knowledge of my intended course and Bsc course is what it takes to get the visa. I intend going to the embassy just once and come out with the green ticket for the visa.... Bruv thank so much and all dons in d house. I hope I'm doing the right thing by going in for a Masters in Public Admin and I hope the VO wouldbe conviences cos I've read from here about people being denied. Cos their intended course stands apart from their first degree

What you seems to be bothered about is within your power. The V0 has no right to denied any applicant on the grounds that there is no continuation or progression in the line of study. That is why there are questions like these"why study this course or what benefit does this course hold to you?" ( For a graduate of Economics like you, you can say you are interested in working for the Nigeria government, you intend to join the Central Bank or ministry of Finance, to ensure that Budgets preparation and allocation are done without any bias and to ensure that the purposes for which the budget were allocated are well executed.....bla bla, this is just a hint)The onus lies on the applicant to educate the VO on why he or she has choose to follow this new study path and I tell you, this is where most people in this kind of scenario who didn't get their visas missed it. You need to be well armed as to why you are changing your study line in this particular time in your life. If you study the thread well, you will notice that recent interviews only requires portraying genuine study intention to the VO and not documents presentations as we have thought or has it has been before. The reason is simple, the VOs only want to accord genuine students the opportunity to actualise their dreams of going to the US to study. Best of Luck man.

Weldone deevick!

@fittty your questions are getting me a bit worried. Deevick took his time in his previous post and gave you different branches of pub admin and you're still scared. Even as an engineer I can apply for Pub admin, defend it before the VO and get the visa. Pls try to do more research about your major or any other major you're interested in very well - it is worth it. If truly you want to study as a means to integrate yourself into the system, pls give it the best shot.
