it's not a news thing. kano is alreading importing part of it's electricity from niger republic. some border towns in borno state are getting their elctricity from cameroun because they couldn't bear to be n d dark while their neigbours from a stones throw distance are in light! they discarded phcn. not 2 long ago d gov of adamawa was offering 2 buy from cameroun. even here in lagos many nigerian customs, police, immigration etc in seme border live across d border because of electricity.

so it is okay if d govt will buy from ghana. i had thought they'll import from china or dubai.

Of course I believe it. Nigeria isn't improving, neither is it progressive while Ghana is the other way around. It's a shame actually especially knowing that Nigeria has more potential than Ghana.

What is so crazy about this whole mess is that Nigerians refuse to accept to change the current system to allow for proper production of electricity. It is not because the neighboring countries have better talent or capacity that they can power themselves. It is because they are not trying to distort the market through subsidies. If people want a benefit from the government ask for it directly it could be a check, it could be free health care (here I would recommend asking for the gov't to pay your check rather than giving a subsidy to private companies). We need companies to have an incentive to produce power. It is ALL about money.

If a company can make billions by producing electricity noone will have to beg them to do so. It will just get done. As they make money more people will join prices will go down. High prices must be accepted in the short term if Nigeria is ever to achieve universal electric coverage.
