I thought he was trying to get into a better position for a crack at goal.
There were bodies in the way. That said, I won't expect him to shoot from there. Dude is suffering from a lack of confidence.

I am not taking anything away from all the contributors to the goal - Lampard especially for not stopping. However, in light of the fact that Torres' mistakes have been hand-picked and highlighted, I thought just for the sake of balance, you should mention his immense contribution to the goal. If he chose to shoot from there or attempt a curl at the post, we may not have scored. The picture you have painted so far is that Torres' participation has been rubbish.

Also it is naive to boil every of Lampard's sub-performances down to a 20-second move.
