MP3 is an audio file format. I suggest you install VLC media player for playing videos. If your video files are not corrupt, they should play just fine.

Don't panic it is a very common problem. The red light in the headphone jack means that your MacBook thinks that an optical audio cable is plugged into the port. There is a tiny sensor inside the port that has been activated. Try plugging and unplugging your headphones into the port several times, it should touch the sensor again, which will switch the red light off and restore your sound. Alternatively you can wriggle a matchstick in the port until the red light goes off.

Please, don't get frustrated. It is a common problem.I have experienced it several times myself. The head phones accidentally activated your optical output. You have to keep trying. Insert the head phone back into the jack, then slowly twist it as you are slowly unplugging it. You are trying to click a switch inside the the jack. It takes several attempts to get it right. Keep trying, you will get it to work.

I would be a bit wary of taking it to any laptop repairer. The laptop doesn't need to be opened. Try plugging the headphones back in, shutting down the macbook with the headphones still plugged in, restart the macbook, then slowly unplug the headphones. If that doesn't work, get a toothpick, insert it and gently turn the toothpick in a circular motion around the internal circumference of the jack.
If you do decide to take it to a laptop repairer, explain the problem, let them know you are just trying to trigger a switch in the head phone jack. Explain to them that it is not a big problem. Please don't let them open the macbook unless they specialise in Apple products.

Good day people! Mountain Lion has been released today. I have been running the Gold Master edition released to developers for over a week now. So far, it has been running seamlessly. I would strongly recommend we all upgrade to Mountain Lion. Let us know about any problems or glitches. Thanks and have a great day people.

That's 100% correct and should work ok. This problem is been ongoing with mac
and update is available by getting http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/products/windows-media-player/wmcomponents

Hi Friends,

Just noticed this anomaly on my Macpro microsoft word document. Anytime I insert an image to a document, microsoft word cease to respond, until I restart the system.

Please what's responsible for this and how can I resolve it?

Thanks.
