As much as I respect  this Falana guy I think he's a conspiracy theorists! the other day it was IMF/WORLD BANK. Today he's calling figures he can't even verify! The constitution says he must have ministers from all states of the federation. GEJ call didn't make this laws. Amend it before you hang him to dry!

Why do people like you talk like this? You would rather insult Falana, genuinely fighting for the common man despite personal success, instead of taking a good look at the GEJ you all support blindly? Who will send an amendment bill to the NASS if not GEJ? Have we not seen him acting with haste in the respect of forwarding bills to the NASS when it is something he stands to gain from( see below)?

Yet when it is something that will affect the pocket of him and his numerous AGIP benefactors we hear that "leaner Government not possible" . As much as it is wrong to blame GEJ for all our woes, it is equally wrong to defend him blindly especially when it is clear to all he never has the nerve to do what is right once that notion involves taking on and defeating the wicked system and individuals crippling the nation.

Jonathan to submit tenure elongation bill to the National Assembly

President Goodluck Jonathan is to send a Constitution amendment bill to the National Assembly that will provide a single tenure for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the governors of the 36 states of the Federation, the Presidency said yesterday.

Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, said in the envisaged bill, the tenure of members of the National and State Assemblies will also be a little more than four years, although lawmakers will still be eligible for re-election, as their constituencies may determine. The specific number of years have not yet been disclosed, but this bill, if approved by NASS, will take effect from 2015.

Mr Abati said the president's commitment to a single term for the president and state governors is borne out of a patriotic zeal and "after a painstaking study and belief that the constitutionally guaranteed two terms for presidents and governors is not helping the focus of governance and institutionalisation of democracy at this stage of our development. A longer term for lawmakers would also help to stabilise the polity."

He said Mr Jonathan is concerned about the acrimony which the issue of re-election, every four years, generates both at the federal and state levels.

"The nation is still smarting from the unrest, the desperation for power, and the overheating of the polity that has attended each general election. The fall-out of all this is the unending inter and intra-party squabbles which have affected the growth of party democracy in the country, and have further undermined the country's developmental aspirations," he said.

The presidential spokesman pointed out that in addition to these, the cost of conducting party primaries and the general elections have become too high for the economy to accommodate every four years.

"The proposed amendment bill is necessary to consolidate our democracy and allow elected executives to concentrate on governance and service delivery for their full term, instead of running governments with re-election as their primary focus," he said.

He, however, noted that this clarification has become necessary in the light of certain reports in a section of the media that the proposed bill is meant to elongate Mr Jonathan's tenure. He said the details of the bill will be clear when it is forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.

Femi Falana:

Market forces are NOT as free as optmistically proclaimed. Every Country interferes in how the economy is run. Otherwise, what is the point of government? We should therefore return to the state of nature if "free market" is indeed free. The RECESSION proves it is not. The US regulates its market.

My add: The whole idea of free market is an attack on the masses by the American Establishment to ensure the mega rich remain untouchable and the middle-class never comes near. Hence near-zero taxes for the rich and middle-class bear the brunts.

Alternative to Capitalism is not Socialism as wrongly assumed. But what Clinton called the THIRD WAY: A balance of both! It's the ONLY THING THAT MAKES SENSE in the global-linked world we have come to inherit. The best countries all MAINTAIN A FORM OF WELFARE: Germany (Economy's growing again), Sweden, Norway, Finland. People NEED HELP. If the government cannot provide it, it should not exist in the first place!

Nigerian this is the time to pray & fast together and lives everything in the hands of God almighty. The revelation I receive is that God has intervene already as you can see the capitalist and socialist power & economy are already entering pit of no return. Once this entire imperialist die forever & ever then we shall be able to control our economy by ourselves. Our government is scare of this people seated upon this country they remote our economy from outside world. Belief me God has intervene and the wicked capitalist & socialist power & economy shall die forever. Let pray let cry let fast so that God shall put is work to finish. Don’t oppose the government but rely on God for total interventions & do not stop God intervene by putting laws into your hand. Romance {13:1} Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are
ordained of God. {13:2} Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. {13:3} For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.

Nigeria government said they cannot longer pay subsidy and they intend to pass the payment to the general public by increase the fuel to 140N. America they copied pay the following subsidy Fuel, medical, Agriculture, transport, Electricity and fresh graduate. The only subsidy Nigeria govenmt pay is what they intend to remove and want the general public to pay from there pocket what a wicked & Ant-Christ Governement, There salaries & alawances carry heavy duty subsidy 25M per month but they cannot subsidize 76N per Nigerians.

THE TRUE STORY THE GOVT WON’T TELL YOU

Nigeria . . . 2011. The Govt. suddenly realised that it had a debt burden that was potentially going to throw it into an economic crisis. On ‘critical analysis’ of the country’s expenditure, they realised they were spending so much on fuel subsidy for the masses.
WHY was it so much? CORRUPTION associated with the importation of the fuel, inefficiency and ineptitude of the Govt. to tackle it.
HOW can it be solved? OPTION ONE: Wage a major anti-corruption war against the CABAL using underhand practices to steal from the country’s commonwealth [corruption can NEVER be ELIMINATED. EVER! However, with sincerity of purpose of Govt., due diligence, hard work and efficiency, it can be reduced drastically]. This option was going to be too much hard work, they would step on toes (toes of the Govt, their friends and well-wishers included) and it was bound to be very messy. It was the HARD OPTION.
OPTION TWO: Eliminate fuel subsidy in its entirety and let the masses bear the cost. All in favour say Aye! . . .Aye!!! The Ayes had it. It
was unanimous! It was the EASY OPTION.

However, there was a catch! The Govt. could not sell that STORY to the people. Nigerians would not buy a story that they were being
impoverished because of a potential debt crisis. That they were being IMPOVERISHED because the Govt. could not fight corruption or ATTEMPT
to fight it. That they were being IMPOVERISHED because the Govt. could not cut down drastically on the COST OF GOVERNANCE. Borrowing the words of a man now in Govt., THE ECONOMISTS WOULD HAVE BEEN STONED.
So they had to cook up a story. A good one.

“Let’s tell them they are being cheated by a RICH CABAL,” they said. “That’s a story the poor would definitely buy. The Rich is stealing
your money. Let’s not tell them that we haven’t attempted to prosecute even ONE MEMBER OF THE RICH CABAL. Let’s not tell them that we are
INTERTWINED with this CABAL. Let’s tell them that we are going to take this money and re-invest it for infrastructural development. Let’s not
tell them that the money DOESN’T EXIST since we have only been borrowing this money and we want to stop borrowing it. Let’s tell them
that when the money is with THE GOVT and split to SEVERAL SECTORS and the THREE TIERS OF GOVT, we would manage it better and tackle the
corruption at ALL THESE LEVELS even if we couldn’t tackle the corruption in ONE SECTOR!!! Yes, let’s tell them.

"Let’s also tell them that when we remove this subsidy, SMUGGLING will stop and all the oil imported to Nigeria will stay in Nigeria. Let’s
not tell them that even after subsidy removal, smuggling will continue as long as there is a price differential. Let’s not tell them that we
are actually too LAZY, INEFFICIENT and CORRUPT to tackle smuggling at the source.
Let’s tell them that the pain is only temporary. Very temporary. That this is for the poor. Let’s not tell them that the POOR which we claim
to fight for are the people who will actually feel the pain. . .REAL LOSERS!!

Let’s hope the NIGERIAN FOOLS will believe this. Let’s tell them this is for the poor. Let’s tell them. All in favour say Aye! . . Aye!!! The Ayes had it! It was unanimous. It was a good STORY!

DISCLAIMER: I do not claim that every bit of this story is true, but it is my guess as to what the REAL STORY is, based on facts revealed
by the actors themselves, hidden truths in their statements, and COMMON SENSE. The ‘Nigerian fools’ are not gullible. . .They were not
counting on that. #OCCUPY.NIGERIA

How I wish those that are in support of subsidy removal have these facts. Femi Falana analyses is enough to make me go out tommorrow. Infact, I am going out!

Jonathan government is an insensitive government. He wants the people of Nigeria to pay for his incompetences. God will purnish you GEJ

This is what we have been trying to say. The problem is not the subsidy per se but the so many unanswered questions which have been posed to Jonathan's government.

For now, 'Occupy Nigeria' continues.

Even if they revert the subsidy removal decision, the anti- corruption in Govt. protest must go on.

ALL FIGURES IN NAIRA

Over N18 billion allocated for upkeep of Aso Rock and to maintain Jonathan & Patience, yet  they're asking Nigerians to make sacrifices

Some of the line items are just insane: 161 Million to buy new buses, N45 million to read newspapers in this age of the internet,
N 173 million for Honorarium & Sitting Allowance (and what the heck is that!)

This budget proposal reveals a level of waste that's mind boggling. Iweala should be sent back to Washington for putting forward this budget proposal.

Anyone supporting this increase in petrol prices should bury their head in shame.  Nuff said

The bane of Nigeria's society is CORRUPTION in the high places. The theme of the protest should be to demand for a Government for the people free of gross corruption! People go into politics in Nigeria to get richer while our country suffers with below human living conditions, lack of infrastructure, no good roads, no constant power in the year of our lord 2012, lack of good educational system (Knowledge is power), i can go on and on. The whole subsidy thing has just awakened the "LION" in the masses. Its sad, its just been going on for too long. People focusing on their regions oil alone should realize that you can have all the oil in this world and your region can still be run down if you don't have responsible leaders, The human resource part is equally important as the natural resource.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS NOW? -By Ben Bruce

Let us remind ourselves the reason for this showdown. It is not about subsidy, I keep repeating this fact. It is about the following indices that make our government big, wasteful and ineffective:

Big and overblown governments at all levels

70 Ministers

Over twenty Special advisers (on what?)

Every minister is entitled to 4 Special Assistants.

Senate President earns 88 Million Naira monthly.

His Deputy Earns 55 Million Naira monthly.

Senators take home 14 Million Naira monthly.

It takes 1.4 Billion naira to maintain the NASS annually (Remember what Sanusi said about 25% of our GDP is used to feed people who only sit Tuesday – Thursday).

Our Governors exhibit such level of opulence shunned by the richest nations in the world

Our 2012 budget has a deficit component to it. We are supposed to borrow about 1.6 TRILLION NAIRA.

NASS will be paid from that! Aso Rock will use 1 Billion of it to eat! Aso Rock will use another 1 Billion to fuel generators.

The Vice President will use 58 Million Naira to buy newspapers.

The office of Patience Jonathan will use 500 Million to speak bad English to you.

We will spend close to 500 Billion on International Travels.

In 2012, some state governors will collect 100 Million as security votes MONTHLY.

They will continue to enjoy immunity clause!

Your hospitals will have no drugs.

Your schools will still have no quality to train a world class scholar

Your roads will still be death traps.

You will still be a local government unto yourself, providing water, security, power and social security!

You will still pay more for petroleum products.

You will pay toll in 2012 on federal interstate roads.

If you will like this to continue in 2012, then stay at home and enjoy power as provided by PHCN!
