NDICTED AIG MD ABUBAKAR MAY REPLACE RINGIM Font size: 23/01/2012 22:20:00 Mohammed Abubakar, an Assistant Inspector General of police, in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi who allegedly masterminded the killings of Christians in Jos may replace out-going Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, Pointblanknews.com has learnt. Abubakar is one of the many AIG’s who is being considered for the top cop job as Ringim’s removal draws near. A Justice Niki Tobi panel constituted in September 2001 by former Governor Joshua Dariye on the Jos crisis had recommended the retirement MD Abubakar from the Police force In a White Paper released in Jos, the panel suggested that Abubakar should be dismissed if he refuses to retire. The panel said: "Religious fanatics should not be posted to head state police commands. The commission recommends that for his ignoble role during the September 2001 crisis which resulted in the loss of lives, the former Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Alhaji M.D. Abubakar, be advised to retire from the Nigeria Police Force and in the event of his refusal to do so, he should be dismissed from the service." Abubakar from Zamfara State who was indicted twice between 2004 and 2006 by a Jos crises Panel, is alleged to have sponsored some Islamist Militant Group when he was Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Plateau States, according to Pointblanknews.com sources. Pointblanknews.com gathered that already, the presidency has commenced search for Ringim replacement and has interviewed few top police officers, which includes MD Abubakar. More AIG’s have also been lined up for interview in the coming days. Sources hinted that the Presidency is seriously considering an immediate replacement for Ringim and all other security chiefs who have been found to have covertly supported the activities of Boko Haram in the country. Meanwhile, following the precarious security situation in the country and the last week massacre in Kano by Boko Haram, top management team of the Nigeria Police Force headed by Hafiz Ringim had a closed-door meeting for six hours in Abuja. The agenda of the meeting, which started at about 10:am and ended at about 4:30pm, was not disclosed as at Press time. All Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs) and the Force Secretary were in attendance at the meeting, which took place at the IGP’s conference room of the Louis Edet House of the Police Headquarters in Abuja. It was also learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan had mandated all the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the last week Kano explosions without delay. Deputy Force Public Relations Officer (DFPRO) of the Police Oluyemi Ajayi while justifying the reasons for the closed-door meeting said it’s a routine management meeting in the Police. He said the meeting was aimed at assessing the past performance of the Force and planning for future operational strategies. http://pointblanknews.com/new/exclusive/3525-indicted-aig-md-abubakar-may-replace-ringim.html |

He has NOT BEEN APPOINTED at all. Being an AIG, naturally his name will be amongst those to be CONSIDERED. Dont single him out for any X-ray! And dont single him out for any image laundering as well!! Whatever kite you're trying to fly is unnecessary. Lastpage. |

I have looked at the list of the panel that indicted him as a religious fanatic on the Jos crisis and they include both Muslim and Christian jurists, Hausa and Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba and ethnic Plateau indigenes and I wonder if they all could be wrong in their judgement. Anyway I feel what GEJ has done is trying to use a thief to catch another thief which proves to be more effective sometimes. With his appointment I believe that Boko Haram will sheath their swords as he may be able to reachout to the leaders some of whom maybe known to him as he has been supervising zone 12 where BH is most active. Won't be surprised if this easily googled information of his indictment was not known to d GEJ govt& security agencies. Some people will always justify the appointment,bc in nigeria anything goes, but, ordinarily an indictment, worse more of a religious nature in our multireligious country, shd exclude dat person frm holding any office.Reasons are being propped up now to support his appointment despite his damning past;but let it not b a case of dejavu;bc a certain Goodluck comes to mind |

Apparently there are two AIGs with the name MD Abubakar. One is Mohd Dikko Abubakar and the other is Mohd Dahiru Abubakar. Only one of the two served in Plateau state and he is not the new IG. Hope this clear things up. |

aguiyi: U are talking as if we have access to the info and access the retardeen has. the truth is the past of this man in question is questionable and that explains our fears which is legitimate and we believe better candidates ought to be out there among the force or even retired. Again, i believe its simply 50-50. Based on precedence common sense should suggest that he is a bad choice however he may also spring a miracle which is our desire. ebogentle: are u sure about this? I hope so. |

Clueless administration can only offer clueless appointments. At the end of the day you guys will still see that no one is better than the other. Nigeria trouble is far away than changing IGP like a cloths. Need a serious Rawling of Ghana styles of revolution in other to begin a fresh start to good things in this country. |

I read that the President might just bypass the AIG's completely (early retirement for them) and appoint one of the five DIG's in line. The point is Nigeria Police is so full of institutionalized corrupt, criminal and incompetent misfits that "trying to choose one" is like choosing between A Pot, A kettle and a Frying Pan! All na black! Lastpage |

Its the same MD Abubakar that was indicted by the Justice Niki Tobi panel (a detribalized panel), its the same guy that was C.P in Lagos in 2007 and ordered that girls be arrested for indecent dressing. It took strong reactions from the NBA, women rights groups and Fashola to stop the trend because the police were arresting anybody they liked. To be honest, he did try in dealing with crime in Lagos but the question marks on him are way too many. The stories of his indictments (twice) are in almost all newspapers. Open Letter To Lagos State Police Commissioner By Damola Awoyokun Published 08/2/2007 Dear M.D. Abubakar, We know you are new to the job, expectedly there will be lots of Initial Gra Gra (IGG). But your policy of arresting and arraigning our Lagos ladies for skimpy dressing is absurd. If we accuse you of being a sexist and enforcing Sharia by proxy, it is safe to say. This is Lagos Alhaji. Our world, our century is on fire by those who after Faustian crises religiously insist on turning their private fantasies into a general nightmare. What exactly is a skimpy dress? How did the police arrive at a benchmark with which they are arresting our ladies? We challenge you to make it public. You said “skimpy dress could cause public disorder.” Why should people be arrested for what “could cause” not what “will cause” or “what has caused”? Recall that the doctrine of pre-emptive strike was from bush. Eko is for show. The women are modern, they have been free to wear whatever they wanted before Alhaji Abubakar came into power and that has not sparked any public disorder, I have no doubt that after and during him, they will still continue to do so. (Except your word ‘public’ is actually a misspelling of something else. In that case, it is private and harmless before the law. Nowhere in the Lagos criminal code is dressing, any type at all, a crime.) We never had a public riot because of those on the Lagos beaches. Neither did the newspaper report one when ex President Obasanjo appeared on the beach with a girl wearing only pant and bra in what became that national tourism advert on CNN. We demand that the case against the arrested ladies be withdrawn and those remanded in Kirikiri Prisons be released immediately. We demand that a public apology be offered to them and compensations be granted over and above the N20, 000 others had spend on bailing. We demand that you swear an affidavit you will never abuse your office again by tampering with our vibrant Lagos culture or smuggle in a distasteful morality already debunked by modernity. Lagos is fiercely cosmopolitan. Its energy derives from the plurality of races, of ethnic groups, of religions and moralities, of cultural sensibilities, of fashion tastes and pleasures, the youthfulness, the underground weirdness that makes the city pump and jump. Alhaji police commissioner, Get Real and Feel Lagos. |

^^^^^Chei-Chei-Chei!!! See wetin "computer-age" is causing! So someone can remind Alhaji Abubakar that he was a "Sharia propagandist" when he was in Lagos in 2007? So you reminded him he was someone who abuses power corruptly? Now imagine if made IGP, would he be a closet supporter of Boko Haram, like Hafeez Ringim? Hmmmm, , . , . . , .The Evil that Officers do, lives with them, these days! |

See me praising the presido before, not knowing that he was just about to fall my hand again I should have known better How can you even consider someone with this kind of background to be the IGP of your country with hopes that "he will do better"? Conc. Mediocrity shall no longer be Nigeria's portion in Jesus Name. It is one thing to be incompetent at ruling a nation, it is another thing entirely to lack even base-level common sense. |

I can bet there are several AIGs that could have been named instead if someone just has a brain that is different from yours and Retardeen's. |
