Not really. Once the deed was done the only thing they could do was try to educate him better and help him avoid such behaviour in the future. But they will also try to protect him from repercussions of his past behaviour like police action or poor press.

The main questions to ask is what steps has the club taken to correct his behaviour subsequently AND also what has he been doing since the alleged offence in 2020 to be a model person. The answers to those questions will determine the outcome of this case.

I think it is better we wait for all the facts of the matter in order to better evaluate firstly the truth of the accusations and secondly the gravity of the offence.

Then we will be in a better position to speculate whether he will or won’t ever again play for the club and whether he will be fined, acquitted or jailed.
