Daniel James is still a proper Championship player,he has a long way to go. Wilfred Zaha ceiling was higher when we bought him from the Championship and he couldn't live up to the expectation.

We still need 4 to 5 specialist players if we are to compete next season. I hope the signings will start coming in after the International transfer window opens next week.

Ole: “I think now is not the time to make drastic changes, but of course we do plan ahead. As I've said, we know who we want to bring with us.”

There you have it folks, no stress. The manager says we don’t need drastic changes.

Ole is not serious, he'll get himself sacked. Mr. Nice guy.

If he clears out the deadwoods and sticks with youth or get in new players, we will be patient with him regardless of the results but if he sticks with them, trust me, we will call for his head if things don't go according to plan.

I have my reservations regarding Ole, he's just too nice and it's telling on our conduct in the market. Ed doesn't look disturbed because Ole won't say a word if we made a mess of the window...Imagine offering players who are no useful to us new deals all because he doesn't want to come across as wicked or whatever he thinks in his head.
With Young, Jones, Smalling, Darmian, Mata, Matic, Rojo in the squad, whatever signing we make is bound to fail.
I just read the club is offering Lingard an improved contract. I give up, let them do whatever pleases them, I can't come and kill myself because of this club.

I woke up to the news of offering Lingard an improved contract of 130k per week and I’ve been angry since then. I don’t know what these people are doing anymore.

It seems Ole love saying one thing and doing another, let’s hope this is just a gimmick to take pressure off Ed and the club while we quietly do good business in the TW because I don’t understand anymore. This same Ole said “I will be successful here and some of these players won’t be here”.

I weak.

What exactly is the justification for offering Lingard an improved contract? It's easy to see why Herrera felt he was undervalued, imagine rewarding Lingard for his continuous show of mediocrity, wouldn't it have been better to offer Herrera 150k and kick Lingard out?

Rooney: “The first thing Ole has to do is build the squad. I don't think bringing in one or two players for £100m is going to help the players already there. He's better spending £30-40m on players with potential & building the squad around those five or six players.” #mufc

Yay
Bringing in one player for 100m will not have as much impact in this current team as using that money on 3 players

Ole has gone mad finally

Though my mind tells me that he has no choice here than to do with what he has or given. We saw this play out last summer too

So, in essence we should be getting players like Daniel James. Cheap, Young and having skills that will fit in the chosen system of play.

To me, the system of play is the most important. If we don’t have one, we’re lost.

From what I’ve seen last season, OLE prefers a 4-3-3 system with the front three interchanging positions as LWF, RWF and CF. In this system, one of the three MFs will be a sitting DM while the remaining 2 will be CMs or LM or RM based on tactics.

His second, less utilized choice is a 4-3-1-2 system with the 2 CFs interchanging positions and sometimes going wide. The guy behind them alternates between AM and CF.

Rashford and Martial have the skills to play in both systems. Lukaku can only manage in the second one. He struggles on the wing. Jones cannot play anywhere in any of the two systems.

Bottom line: bringing in players who won’t fit into OLE’s system as well as the club’s philosophy is a waste of time and money.

Most definitely...I have lowered my expectations so as not to get disappointed before the wi dow shuts. One thing is certain, it doesn't look like we're serious in our quest to return to the summit of European football...Indeed, mediocrity is the new cool.

That’s what we have all been saying. It’s not really compulsory we buy 70m players, we can do it though but we need to buy players that will fit into the plans of the manager and not just buying for buying sake. We need 5 - 6 players but this one our manager is saying we don’t need drastic changes, any player we get in will likely get lazy and complacent with these current ball boys we parade as players.

Ndidi - shouldn’t cost less than 35-45m
Rabiot - free with sign on fee
Ndombele - 45 - 50m max
Ziyech - 25m release clause
Muenier - 25-30m
Koulibaly/De ligt- 75m max
Bruno Fernandez - 50m
Neres - 35-40m
Pepe - 65-70m

Ed and OGS should just give themselves brain. Any 5 of those players I listed would improve us significantly.

Less than 400m and after player sales, that should see us spend a net of 250 - 300m but Ed being Ed would rather splash the cash on 2 signings.

That Ziyech guy can’t be any worse than Sanchez. For 25m he’s a good risk. I don’t know why we’re not getting him. We hardly have left footers in the team, not that it’s a must.

Watch Everton or Frankfurt snap him up and he starts performing. Then before a potential clash presser they’ll be saying “he’s a good player” “quick feet” blablabla
