Apart from refusing to venture forward, they hardly create good chances when they go forward. Pogba can hardly cover for his FB but he’s trying.

I think switching formations during games will help both the players and manager improve. 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 5-3-2.

Yeah it is not perfect but i think it is a better starting formation than 4-2-3-1 that becomes rubbish immediately Rashford or Greenwood is injured and we start depending on Mata or James.

With regards to the full backs Telles would be the ideal LB in the formation with Shaw dropping to the bench. We have to use AWB until we get a better RB.

Also i do agree that we should be able to switch formation if need be to face a specific kind of opponent but i think the 4-4-2 while not perfect is the best formation we have for now.

Agreed. Even with the inadequate personnel, that formation can be tweaked to make it near perfect. However, the coach must know how to do so and the players must follow instructions to the letter to execute it.

Apart from that, whatever happened to hybrid formations that brings results? The 3rd forward in a 4-2-1-3 can be a midfielder, not a winger. I think Wenger has done this before - uses one winger in a 4-3-3. It’s just a matter of teaching and execution.

The CBs should cover their FBs I agree but it shouldn’t be too much. Shaw’s transgression is why Maguire fuucks up- to some extent. You saw him tackling Shaw the other day cos he doesn’t think he can handle simple balls. Maguire isn’t a world class defender himself though.

AWB doesn’t need to be babysat much defensively. That’s why Lindelof can play RCB. Else that defense would be rubbish.

Also, is Tuanzebe ready and fit to play every week? We haven’t seen him play regularly so we only know what we’ve known about him. Consistency is the koko.
