Philantropists:
In addition to your question, this is a re-opening bond meaning the initial bond conditions weren't met and is being offered for re-sale, the percentages you see may not be what you get if you go for this bond, i am sure up till this point but there are more bonds conversant guys like ukay2 to explain the conditions of such bonds.
NB: Anyone posting re-opening bonds auction should try explain conditions of it so that investors know what they are getting into.

Phylife:
Please House i need straight answers to the below:
1. Can one with low income say 50k to 500k invest in the FGN bond?
2. How can one go about it to invest? Through one's bank or a stockbroker?
3. To get or open a cscs account tied to the stockbroker - if yes through a stockbroker - assisting into subscribing for the bond?
4. And is the auction done every month or quarterly?

Thanks already.

Hi All
Is there anyone with answers to the above questions?

1. For the primary auction you can’t. In the secondary you can but, in reality or in practice each investment house has their own minimum expected from client which in most cases not less than 5m depending on the house.
2. To invest in FGN bond in the secondary market, it’s through your investment house ie stockbroker
3. You need a cscs account for trading in shares or bonds. cscs account opening is free with investment one and I think it’s same with most
investment houses.
4. You can always check the DMO website ( https://www.dmo.gov.ng/) for any information on auction of FGN Bonds

It's easy. Click on the link on my signature to open any account of our different products: stockbroking (cscs), VGIF, Abacus MMF, VDF etc
Whether one or more of the products, accounts are opened at the same time and can be funded whenever your money is available.
All you need is your kyc documents ( passport photo, ID card, utility bill and your signature) which you are required to upload at the last page of the form.
N. B: investment one will never ask for cash to open any of the product accounts online
You can also reach me on 08181057319 if you need further clarification.

You and your guy conglomerate are in agreement with this one.
I have never really liked portfolio investors that can dream bad dream at night and next morning they can run away with their briefcase. If they invest in factories, manufacturing and other critical sectors, they non go fit carry their factory and equipment for head run overnight, worse case they go wind down operation.

It is only guaranteed before you are comparing it with Naira, inflation will also chop off part of their money if they also left it idle wherever they are bringing the money from.

Foreign portfolio investors are normads. They don't own controlling shares in businesses, they are their for the short term.

Unlike foreign direct Investors like Lafarge, Friesland, Nestle, Heneikens, MTN SA, Diageo, Unilever, Siat, Olams etc, they have controlling shares in businesses in Nigeria

Exactly, FDIs are better on the long term and impact the local economy, these FPIs tend to hurt us when things are a little shaky

CBN..
Because of you bring through black market, you'll also exit through black market, unless you have a strong paddy that's a legit businessman you can pass under..
Otherwise you'll have to smuggle your currency out like those Lebanese caught with $890k in port harcourt grin

FPIs make money but don't create wealth.

Just like a trader, importer and a manufacturer.

Traders and importers make money, but manufacturers money has a multiplier effects on the economy

The moments we need them the most to bring scarce forex is when they also always want to move the small ones available away.

If you make money, but it is not regular. It is better to use part of the fund to buy an annuity or give a standing order payment into your monthly expenses account

They are not Foreign Portfolio Investors, Lebanese and Chinese are businessmen. Although some are fraudulent

Portfolio Investors buy shares, Treasury Bills, Bonds, Commercial papers, Eurobonds etc. They can have millions or billions of dollars worth of Investments, but only operate from their hotel rooms when they are in Nigeria. They don't need an office or a property in Naira.

They are nomads and they need to be as light as possible. A laptop, phone and their portfolio is all they need.

With the money trapped here, they are cycling the money inside Nigeria. If your suspicion that they are the ones doing the low rate TB, that means that CBN is getting cheap loan from them.
If this is a delibrate plot of CBN I can say it is a smart move. Otherwise, we still benefit at the top level.
I non really know why people like to de curse this CBN governor for not providing cheap forex without impact

You sure say they even de invest for hotel? They can operate from anywhere in the world. Don't forget Nigeria is likely to be one of the 3rd world countries they operate.

They do portfolio too and have legit guys that move their money out via CBN.
Like they can buy naira now at its weakest and use the naira to buy shares, make profits and when they want to repatriate they go and meet say the chagourys to move their money for them.
That is if they have a relationship with them and they negotiate their cuts.
I'm not saying the chagourys do this ooo,it was just an example.
See my nyarsh oo lol grin
