Dudugirl01: My baby has been stooling since thursday, took her to the hospital and doctor says its ok, I'm worried, what could be the problem?

It is fine. Maybe u ate something that is running her tummy. If u feel the stooling is more than usual, u can give her ORT for 2 days so she doesn't become dehydrated.

I must confess, i love this tread i pray may the good Lord bless the mover of this tread......me and my wife are expecting our first child but to my suprise, she called me last week that she saw blood in her vagina and the nurse says that the baby is coming, and she gave her everything to make her deliever but the baby refuses to come meanwhile she is just in her 32nd weeks. But at the end of the day the doctor later refferd her to were she registerd for anti-natal were the midwife later told her its not yet time but the baby is already in her lower abdomen, and since then evrything seems to be fine she only complain of pain in her lowerabdomen. Am scared ooo pls i need advise.......hope everything is fine?

Congrats on the pregnancy! Where is your wife located? Its good the bleeding stopped, there are many reasons women can experience spontaneous bleeding in pregnancy. Have they given you a reason for the bleeding, has she done a scan after the bleeding episode? Once you answer i can better advise.

@dbty, since its ur 1st pregnancy, I guess you can register at any good hospital.
For high risk pregnancies, Royan hospital in ojodu berger is VERY good!

Hope everyone is good... My little man was three weeks old yesterday . He seems to have changed sleeping pattern, he started by sleeping throughout the day n then being a night owl at night. This wore me out cos im not used 2 afternoon naps so i only used to get like 2 hrs of sleep when he manages to sleep in the early hours of the morning like 6am

I wasn't enjoying this n i was practically crying to God. 2days ago however, he was up almost thru the day and slept quite well at night and he did the same thing yesterday. Seems like my night owl is becoming a day owl which i'm loving

I had him in Eko hospital and I don't know if this is the right medium but for those looking for good hospitals, don't go near eko hospital (they kept me in the hospital for about 10 days claiming my baby was jaundiced, got tired, discharged against med advice and went elsewhere where it was confirmed that his jaundiced had been treated. I named my Olaoluwakanmi in the hospital so im really burnt o).

I stay around Ojodu berger and as I left Eko hospital with my son, my hubby n I decided that we would never go back there.

We are trying to register in another hospital, St Mary specialist in Omole. Good choice?

@dudugirl that doesn't sound like stooling, my son's stools are same color and just as frequent

@dtby congrats and welcome, were are you located? I know if in Nigeria there is Pregnacare and a list of others ic ant remember, in Canada, USA their is Materna. Im sure others will come on to give more vitamin recommendations. Happy and healthy 40 weeks.

Will like to ask working mums, how do u cope after giving birth, I mean after the 3 months maternity leave is over, with office work. I dont know how it will be, leaving one's 3 months old baby @home to o to work,and comeback back maybe earliest 3pm, is it really easy and advisable.Thanks

Pregnacare, folic acid, etc. Just walk into a good pharmacy and ask for daily multivites for pregnancy. They will recommend stuff for you.

sorry bout ur xperience with eko hosp.My neighbour had a similar one with a private hosp in PH. She and baby were even delayed for more than 10days.
It got so bad that in the name of treating jaundice, they had to take blood from baby's head cos they could not find veins anywhere else. They were doin this to increase the number of days they spend in their hospital so that they can bill the husband's company more.
They just kept exposing the child to one miserable flourescent light.
May God just protect us from some bad practices of our private hospitals.

when i had my first child, i got a job exaclty when she was 6mths, then i had stopped exclusive breastfeeding, but still i just found a creche close to my office to keep her. I was alwz goin there during lunch time to checkup on her and once its 4pm, I was outta the office. But with this new one we r expecting, I dont know how i'll cope with exclusive breastfeeding for 6mths cos it takes me hours to express one full feeding bottle. I might still keep baby in a creche, but i am looking at options of being self-employed, cos ma dear, i must confess, stress dey quick kill ooo.

Demmy these symtoms you are describing sound scary. Have you told your doctor about how you feel? I never had malaria befor so i dont know how it feels. I think you should go back tot eh doctor or seek another opinion. Make sure to drink lots of water, how is your blood pressure is it low, have them check all these things please. I dont think malaria should make you feel the way you are describing.

Breastfeeding for six months is great , and then baby can start basic solid foods,thats what i did with my son, i stopped giving him beast milk at 18 months. To help boost up production try expressing more often like every 4 hours if you can to build up the supply if you can are you using a manual or electric pump? Have you though about pumping and freezing your excess milk and then you can always back it with the baby once you take LO to daycare and they can use it in the day, while you use the fresh one for the night. This method worked well for me i ended up with a freezer full of EBM (expressed breast milk). I ended up giving some away because my supply was quit massive.

Sorry i am not a dr and im not familiar with this injectable medication, contact teh Dr. that percribed it to you.

great advise! I use the manual pump, and if I had to express then, I only did it once a day.
I'll try to do it more often cos I want to make sure i am able to give this baby, when it arrives, 6mths exclusive breastfeeding. I cannot quantify the advantages. My daughter is 18months and I am still breastfeeding even with this pregnancy. It is a relief for me kind of cos my bosoms hurt so much during pregnancy, so breastfeeding her makes it less heavy. I intend breastfeeding till i put to bed since i do not have any complications.

Well, I had my daughter 8 weeks ago and boy it was a high risk pregnancy.

For starters, unlike my boys, her head never quite engaged fully even at 40 weeks. The doctors and midwives were concerned to say the least, moreso because the scans showed she was lying in an unstable position. i.e one minute breech position, then transverse and then head down.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I had to undergo an elective C-Section at 41+ weeks - and I now have a beautiful bundle of joy to show for it. Wouldn't have it anyother way

@all, My wife based in lagos and am in ph, the nurse told her her cervix is already open in her 33weeks and thats why she has a little bleeding last week but my baby has refuse to come out,she then told her to go for another scan, and just yesterday, the scan shows that the baby is just perfectly ok, but am still scared bcuz i thought after the opening of the cervix that the baby will come immediatly,,, her(my wife's) name is Oluwatosin,according to the three scan she has had, she is due to give birth on either,7,14&25th of may +/-2weeks...

How many cms dilated is she... You should be happy the baby isn't coming yet. I think she should observe bed rest and lets hope bub keeps baking for the next 4 weeks all the best!

Btw, I know someone who was abt 4cms and stayed for 3 weeks more with bed rest.

@Efemaxy congrats on your LO, and try to take it easy and recover well from the CS as all who have had one know its not easy ooo
@ayobarmy its good that her labour is non progressive that means it stopped, perhapes the cervix is only slightly opened,in the process of the bleeding did her water(s) break? Thats important because if it did she should be placed on antibiotics to prevent infection. If not and they are intact then she should but herself on bed rest and try to take it as easy as possible. The hospital that you are receiving treatment from do they have an Incubator and can they handle a preterm baby if the baby comes early? Please try to make inquiry, its best you deal with a hospital that has such facilities, at your wife gestation it is good either way baby will be just fine if it comes early, just a little small but ok. So try not to worry to much.

@ diamond sounds like you are having a tough time, but it is worth it in the end, babies are so sweet.

@Agi Am not sure anything like water breaking did happen bcuz she didnt notice any other thing aside frm that little bleeding or can the water break without any1 noticeing? and yes the hospital do have all it takes to handle any issue,....... @Olamide she said the nurse told her it between 2-3 cm but she is resting very very well in fact i ask her to go to Lagos so she could have all the rest she desire bcus i knw myself to be very restless when its come to bedtime........ pls any1 that delivered here in ph should notify us oooo so we can come for the child dedication bcuz the rice dey sweet wella......lol

@Ayobamy, you still want her to travel? Please leave her until she is at least 37 weeks. Absolute bed rest for her until the baby is born. It is essential she rests. Trust me, you do not want the stress and heart ache of having a premature baby. What if her lungs have not developed fully, etc? When u get restless at night, just think about that. By now, they should be giving your baby some injections to make her lungs mature faster.

@Blank, thanks for ur concern, bit she has already travelled since february as for the injection i do not knw if she is been given anything of such, but she has clinic tomorrow i will inform her to ask the doctor about it....... Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you.

You'll find out that with most pregnancies, the babies tend to get progressively larger. Having said that, my youngest boy was 11pounds and 2 (5.37kg) and it was a normal delivery. The only pain relief I had was the gas given to me (can't remember what it's called). I didn't have any tears and nor was I diabetic.

But my last child (daughter) weighed 10pounds and 5 (4.9kg) at 41+ 1 week. I think she might have been bigger or even topped her brother's birth weight if she hadn't been taken out by C-Section. (Still feel a teeny weeny bit disappointed that I didn't get to push her out like the others).

Anyway, if you're still worried speak to your doctor or midwife and discuss the various birthing option / your birth plan.

My mum told me i weighed 4.8kg at birth. Good thing my baby was born at 2.3kg. Don't know how i would have pushed out a bigger baby.
