The hate, envy and jealousy  South Africans have for us is unbelievable and knows no bound. Kudos to GEJ and his crew for putting those ingrates to their level. KOKOA is very right, we alone can insult ourselves and our leaders, any bagger that tries it will be summarily dealth with.

Last year Nigeria was vying for renewal of the position of chairmanship position of a sub committee in the united nations out the 200 nations present 196 voted in support of nigeria and 4 voted against. The 4 nations that voted against Nigeria - Liberia, Seirra Leone, Togo and Guinea (though Guinea's vote was counted as negative because they came late for the meeting.

Remember that same last year the President of Liberia Ellen Sirleaf Johnson came to Nigeria appealing for troops to help protect her country borders against the illegal importation of small arm and police men to help in the conduct of their presidential election. Till date thousands of nigerian troops are still serving in Liberia. Same for Seirra Leone. Most times when coming for Ecowas meeting the Liberian always makes special appeals for use of one of our Presidential jets. yet her country would have the courage of voting against Nigeria. What do you call dat. Ungratefulness of the highest order

African Countries, even those we have repeatedly assisted in the past always looks for ways of undermining Nigeria. Unfornately for them things are changing, GEJ no matter what we think of him is taking a firm stand n these issues just like he did in the vase a of ARIK and BA

Some Interesting Comments by South African:

Khulza
The South African government has committed the biggest post-apartheid democratic blunder. LAst week we heard that some five Malawian soccer players were turned back because they didn't have same documentation and this hardly made news. The MAlawian govt never complained.

Now come the Nigerians who add absolutely no value to our economy and our government is made to apologize to a government that is struggling to bring any semblance of sanity in their own country. When will our govt realize that the mere reason that there are so many Nigerians here is simply because there is no effective government in that part of the world ? The people masquerading as leaders there are nothing but big time thieves no different to the drug-selling scum they export to our country.

Sani Abacha ruled for a mere 2 years but when he died he had stolen $USD 750 million. And still our govt think this is a country that deserve any respect.

i love nairaland 4 the simple reason that it is a forum where pple are experts on issues that they never heard of before.i have been reading a lot of comments on this nija\sa saga and its been fun reading.like the yankees says that opinion is like an Naugthy-person,everybodys got 1. i can only identify with the comments of @beaf and @big-sean.these are guys who reason like the modern men.the rest jst complete the numbers.whether it was pres jonathan or obj that was deported doesnt matter,as long as the federal govt made a point.to the ordinary south african on the street who is lazy and always looking for excuses on who caused his poverty and sickness, the sight of a nigerian, especially one with a south african lady is a cause of a serious heartache. the deportation was silly and irregular and was calculated to humiliate the fgn,bt it truely backfired on them. i lived in south africa and i saw 1st hand how these guys hate the guts of african who helped them in their time of sorrow and tears.i dont condone crimes and my philosopy is that if u do the crime,u mst do the time.bt u cant be judged based on being a nigerian.the drug users in sa are south africans.corruption, ritual killing and what have u are prevalent in sa,so they should stop talking trash about nija.if the white folks have not been helping out with their economy,i believe that by now, they woulda be begging food from zim.the greatest mistake the south africans made was allowing a fool and a dictator like Zuma to become the president.he supported gbagbo in killing his pple,he assisted ghadafi in killing his pple,he stabbed his friend and president Mbeki in the bck just to be the man.the folks on the streets of sa doesnt know what they stood to lose in a closed relationship with us.the two parties gat a lot 2 lose.there are lives at stake as well cos there are loads of kids born btw the 2 pple.in the end,am glad that commom sense and cooler heads reigned supreme.
Re: Yellow Fever: South Africa Apologizes Over Deportation by theviper1: 3:35am On Mar 09, 2012
appology frm south africa is in order cos they realised that they were in the wrong.bt it is funny how they will always accuse nigeria of being corrupt with the ANC in govt in their country.it is like a cattle calling the pot preto.we nigerians cant be maltreated or humiliated by any 1 or any country cos there is corruption in nigeria.there is corruption in every country on planet earth including the Vatican.Britain is the most corrupt country in western europe,bt bbc never failed to make example of nigeria as an example of a corrupt country in their programms.we cant bomb them cos they have the freedom of expression.we need not gloat over this appology issue.what i want the GEJ govt to do is treat the basic issues in nigeria so that those of us living outside can comfortably come hme and live in peace and avoid insult from unlettered pple like sa and many other african countries.bt i believe that with this move, other african brothers will sit up and give us the respect that we deserve.if u commit a crime,u are on ur own. imagine a country like senegal where nigerians living there will always run over to the Gambia when ever we have a football match with them, cos if nigeria beats them, nigerians living in senegal will have their shops burnt to the ground and the folks beaten up.this is the barbarism of most african countries.like south africans setting their african brothers on fire. we have accepted their appology, end of the matter.the rest is btw the talking heads of the 2 countris.

The same measure like this should have been taken during the release of District 9 film where Nigerians  including our own Obasanjo were  portrayed as gangsters, LovePeddlers and gun runners. That was bad for our image.

Diplomatic spat: Why South Africa begs Nigeria
Thursday, 08 March 2012 21:11 administrator
By Abdulrahman Abdulraheem

The South African government yesterday ate humble pie by tendering an “unreserved apology” to its Nigerian counterpart over the deportation of 125 Nigerians over the weekend, which resulted in a diplomatic spat between the two countries. The South African government sent an official apology letter to this effect to Nigeria.

Peoples Daily investigations revealed that the South African government, which had earlier adopted a hard line stance over the Yellow fever card imbroglio, was forced to retreat primarily to protect its economy and the business interests of some of its top citizens domiciled in Nigeria. Aside being the biggest market for South Africa’s mobile telecoms operator, MTN, Nigeria is also a strategic hub for South Africa’s Shoprite as well as Standard Bank Group, the parent of StanbicIBTC, all of which have profitable operations here.

A reliable source in one of the South African firms in the country told our reporter yesterday that investors in his company, some of who are members of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa had to pressure the government of the country to see reason why allowing the diplomatic row to linger would hurt their own nation more than Nigeria.

This, the source said, “played a significant role in getting the SA government to backpedal from its earlier position on the matter (yellow fever card feud)”.

The MTN Group’s financial result as at December 2010 showed that its total revenues globally for that year stood at N2.57 trillion (115 billion rand), while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBIDTA) stood at N1.07 trillion (48 billion rand).

A break-down of the Group’s results showed that MTN Nigeria, which remains its biggest operations, contributed the most to its revenues and profits in 2010. MTN Nigeria made total revenues of N749 billion that year, which was 29% of the Group’s total revenues in 2010.

i agree, what he did is just childish and very stupid.

We are sick and tired of these "OGRE", eish.

Nys1
“Ngwafu” Mr Minister , Your childish action might just see a xenophobic affair against Nigerians in SA, truth be told It’s a well known fact that the whole World is not “de fine” with Nigerians as they’re known for the criminality. Now If our Airport officials deny access & deport your people back on solid facts & in line with International policies - You react by doing the same just to make a point , I think you’ve just gave us(SA) something to talk about. Maybe there was something after all !!!

Orgasm
We do not need Nigeria anyway, there is nothing positive that they bring here.

Mrazane
Why do Africans h* te each other so much?! Instead of making intelllingent comments there is xenophobic drivel dished out. The issue here is we have seriously corrupt Customs officials who have been extorting money from Nigerian travellers they drive BMW SUVs they cannot afford on their salaries- where do they get the money from. It is our Customs who make way for drugs into SA if our officials had any integrity like Thailand we would not have the drug problem that we have. Nigerians are not fools they would not react in this fashion if proper protocol was observed. Our International Relations department has absolutely no clue what they are doing and are painfully ignorant of the likely consequences of their decisions - the Libyian no fly zone decision is just one of many blunders. Travel a bit get exposed to the world that might help you overcome your h***tred of fellow africans.

Candyboy
sh!t will hit the streets, townships and suburbs of South Africa, if our GOVT gives in to these b@stards, WW3 (Africa), watch this furken space, I'm sick to my stomach knowing that our streets are infested with Nigerians, !

Nys1
Was in Spain recently , They treated us like crooks , seached us or bags & we had to produce all docs , Now this fcukheads dont want to comply , Ag man aba vaye, SA is better off without the them & thier dirty money.

Hangwelani
Olugbenga why are you taking this matter personally? Was your nyatsi in the group of people that got deported?
South Africans in Nigeria do not bring drugs, prostitutio.n, 419 scams, hit men etc, the list is endless.

Everything about Nigerians is fake, even their names are fake. Sick & tired of them, they should just go back to their country if they dont like our rules and laws.

willows
Our companies are in ur country because u dnt have what it takes to form such big companies. these nigerians must just go back 2 whr they belong. Soon SA will be over-populated bcoz of them.

South Africa apologised for the 124 deported Nigerians but nothing changes regarding the yellow fever certificate.

Nothing changed,Nigerians will still need to produce the certificate when visiting the republic. Our government only apologised because your government became emotional about this issue and they also used this as a nation building to divert your current domestic problems, like Boko Haram that is on the killing string and cannot be stopped.

Sorry RSA thats totally false. THe government acted decisively to demonstrate Nigeria's "potential" power on the continent vs the South Africans who consistently try to undermine it.

Deporting 125 passengers on the basis of "fake' yellow fever cards is ridiculous and you know it. There were several other alternatives that could have bee used.

Treating every single Nigerian like those low life ones that enter you country and disgrace themsleves will not be tolerated by us anymore.

You must learn to distinguish and not rely on preconcieved notions of a people. That's what an inteliigent and civilized poeple do poeple do no!

Just to enlighten you a little bit on those articles. The people who are writing those comments are not representative of educated South Africans. They are the very bush ones who are running around waiting for handouts from their ANC government and ready to "toy toy" and kill "strangers" to incite their government to hear their grievances.
