Human Papilloma Virus linked to rise in oral cancers
More than 6,000 cases a year

Oral cancer cases in the UK have risen to more than 6,000 a year for the first time, new figures from Cancer Research UK show.

Experts think an increase in Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infections, transmitted through O.ral S.ex, are behind the rise. Around two thirds of cases occur in men.

Experts say that an increase in alcohol consumption by Brits cannot fully explain the rise in oral cancer rates, suggesting other factors are involved.

Up to eight out of 10 people in the UK are infected with HPV at some point in their lives. Many strains of the virus are harmless, and the infections often get better without treatment. However, a few "high-risk" strains, such as HPV-16, can persist and cause cell changes which can develop into cancer.

Richard Shaw, an expert in head and neck cancers at the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre, said: "We have seen a rapid increase in the number of HPV16-positive cases of oral cancer.

That's what the so-called "experts THINK". As far as I am aware, there is no documented correlation between blow-jobs and an increase in mouth ulcers.

The report singles out Men as presenting with increasing cases of Mouth cancer (not ulcer). True blow jobs have been around for a long time but Human Papilloma Virus HPV 16 and 18 infections are strongly associated with an increased odds ratio of developing orophanyngeal cancer.

Persistent infection with "high-risk" HPV types may progress to precancerous lesions and invasive cancer. HPV infection is a cause of nearly all cases of cervical cancer. Men have higher prevalence of oral HPV than women. Oral HPV infection is associated with HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer. Odds of oral HPV infection increases with the number of recent o.ral s.ex partners or open-mouthed kissing partners. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_papilloma_virus_%28HPV%29

So sucking breast reduces cancer in women and MouthAction increases cancer of the mouth for men. God is fair na. That's payback on men for allowing double-standards to go on for so long lol.
