SA refused my evisa application for the reason “invalid bank statement”.
This is utter rubbish because bank statements uploaded were genuine. The graduation program we were supposed to travel for have been done since close to 2 weeks ago.

Who understands the meaning of “invalid bank statement” please?

These people are just useless!

When you need information and you get it here, Always come back to update others. Earlier in the year, alot of people had similar complains like some of you highlighted in recent times. (Technical ones) However, soon as they got it resolved , they stopped responding or engaging others here. The next thing we hear, I am a Silent Reader....

I want to implore everyone here to always assit others with requisite information so they can tackle concerns as regards their applications.

Trust me, if i have anything to share, i did do ASAP

We have alot of technical compliant here in recent times which needs everyone's contributions, if you have links, PLEASE HELP ,RESPECTFULLY.

Goodluck Guys!

We noticed it recently. There has been many rejections for people that applied specifically in March and have their travel date passed.

Hello everyone please help me interpret…

I received a text message only at 2.09pm today ..no email or calls

That my processed application has been dispatched to the South Africa visa application center Abuja and also another text message that my processed visa application has been dispatched to courier..

My question is,

These texts I recieved while they are working during the day at 2.09pm does it mean that my visa application has been refused or what?

Unfortunately there is high likelihood that your visa is refused.

Note that the msgs are automated. Hence the timeframe of receipt does not really matter.

When did you apply?
What did you apply for?

Your answer to the questions may help the gurus in the forum to advise you unto the next step to take.

I applied 30th of January this year

Visitors visa to visit my extended family in South Africa

All documents super complete including invitation letter, certified IDs, their bank statements, water n electricity bills, affidavit for proof of address, my statement of account over 4 m, letter from employer, verifiable yellow fever card and so on

But just confused

I need assistance from people based here in South Africa. I have a valid study permit until December 2024 . However my international passport is expiring next month and I am applying for for a new one . I would be using the new passport to apply for a Canada visa. Can I still use the permit to show I’m legal here in South Africa even though it’s on the old passport or do I need to travel back home to apply.
Also can I still use the permit to go in and out of South Africa?

Take it easy 🙂. I know it can be quite confusing with a lot of emotional roller-coaster.

Get the outcome. Guessing reasons for rejection (hopefully not) won't be helpful now.
However, have plan B incase if it comes out the other way round.

If you still have plans to travel, i will advise you start collating all necessary documents you can "easily" lay your hands on now, while you wait.

We hope for the best 👌🏽.

Please be aware that a "VISA" serves as evidence of your legal stay in any country. However, one challenge that arises with an expired passport is that most visa applications require a specific validity period, which I assume applies to the Canadian visa application (please conduct further research on this matter).

Now, the question is how urgently you require your passport. I am aware that passport processing in South Africa can be time-consuming. If you can afford to wait, I would recommend getting your passport renewed here in South Africa.

While you can still travel in and out of the country with a valid permit, it's important to note that having an expired passport may lead to complications with both South African and Nigerian immigration authorities, as a valid passport is typically required.

Cheers!

You’re not getting my question. My question will I be able to still use the visa on the old passport while iim with the new passport? Would I be able to still go in and out of South Africa with that visa on the old passport since it’s only expiring in December 2024?

Not anymore Sir. Since 2017, the policy has changed. SA Visas automatically expire when the passport expires.

https://www.savisas.com/blog/dha-scraps-visa-transfers/
https://immigrationspecialists.co.za/new-policies-validity-south-african-visas-announced/

Now, DHA won't even grant visas beyond the expiration date of the passports.
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Africankel(m): 4:10am On Jun 02, 2023
Two things.

1. If your passport is in your possession at the time of receiving the text.

2. If your proposed travel dates have passed.

It means your visa has been refused, unfortunately.

I have not logged in in years but had to do so because of this response. I was also confused, expired passport, valid visa in 2020. I had to go to the embassy in Lagos and they confirmed that I could travel with it, I was so worried that I asked that they write me a letter to confirm this to avoid issues at the port of entry. I got the note from the representative at the embassy, but I didn't have need it at the Cape Town airport because the immigration officers didn't have an issue with my visa in a separate passport other than the one, they had to stamp.

That approach could potentially be effective. Seems you had a valid "passport" however, your valid "visa" was on the old passport. That is usually accepted. Supporting one of the comments I read here, the duration of the visa is now based on the timeframe of the validity of your passport. Hence, it is hard you see a long-term visa exceeding the validity period on a passport.

Note: My previous comment was based on traveling with an old passport having a valid visa on it.
It is my personal recommendation to travel with a valid passport, if possible, rather than taking any unnecessary risks.

Cheers
